View Full Version : Cruise Night... Time for a change

I has become painfully obvious over the past few cruise nights that we needed more room. Our Cruise Night has become so popular that less than a hour into it we are running out of space. This is creating a problem that unfortunately cannot be resolved at our present location. I've talked to the businesses next to Pep Boys to try to get permission to move the overflow into their lot but the answer was no.
Now for the good news, after successful negotiations with the LOWES on the corner of Easton Road(rte.611) and Street Road in Warrington I'm happy to announce that starting in July of this year we will be having cruise night in the LOWES parking lot. Lowes has allowed us the use of the upper parking lot which is isolated from shoppers vehicles. This dedicated lot has over 250 spaces, more than twice Pep Boy's.
This move is not a move that I was looking forward to, but we all saw it coming. Pep Boys was the perfect partner and the location was ideal. I talked with the folks at Pep Boys they also realized that a change was necessary.
More info on the move can be found on the members Only Forum.

Wow, this is big news and it was/is a big problem. I love the Pep Boys location since its a minute from my house but the reality is that you can't park there unless you get there early and that is a drag for many. Even last year, if you didn't get there before 6:00, you weren't parking in the regular lot. This will be an interesting market experiment since I wonder whether some of the success of the night is because of the ideal location right on Street Road.

Lowe's isn't the end of the world and that works good. There's lots of space. There's bathrooms in the stores there and there's a Friday's and Genuardi's (or even bad Target Hot Dogs) for food. Nice job on the proactive approach Don. I think its a win-win.

PS - Regarding "More info on the move can be found on the members Only Forum." - I don't see anything in the members only forum about this. (Not trying to be difficult)

I was still writing the Members Only Posting while you were reading this one.
I also think this is a great move. For the last 2 years I have intentionaly not advertized Cruise Night outside our club excepts for the poster at Pep Boys. I wanted to keep it small and managable. However we are suffering from the goldfish bowl effect. The bigger the bowl the bigger the goldfish will get. Hopefully we will be good for a while and the next relocation will be someone else's problem ;at

Don, have you asked PepBoys about placing signs and flyers about the move? It would be nice if we could place a billboard on the sidewalk to direct people to Lowes. It's really nice to know there ARE businesses out there who welcome our presence. Nice work.

I don't think they would have a problem with us doing that. However we will still have the next 2 cruise nights at Pep Boys where I will have flyers made up annoucing the move that will be placed in all the cars.

Don have Billie put a note in "Satchel's Pages" to advise people of the change. Just a thought.....

Don - Great job on being pro-active.

I'm fine with it and the last thing we want to do is hurt Pep Boy's or their reputation with the other stores since they been so kind to us.

Maybe we can have Lowe's as a partner with our club and as you know there could be many benefits from that.
