Has anyone else ever noticed the phantom guests? It's impossible for a guest to have moderator duties, report a post, edit a post, send email, view the gascap pages, or view a user control panel. It's also unlikely that there are so many guests online at any given time. I wonder if it's programmed into the software to make websites look busier than they actually are. Welcome to ForumEnron.com. ;bl

I've seen as many as 50+ Online Users at one time before, with 48 or so Guests listed. Some kind of glitch I guess that doesn't take them off the list when they leave.
As far Guests showing that they are in places they obviously can not be, I have no answer.
Webguy??? :D
(By the way, Webguy, not pointing a finger, just asking if you have an answer as to why)
We all know you do a great job with this website and we appreciate it all too. ;bt

There you go again, stating the obvious. :D
Seriously, it's just a stupid question, and doesn't need to be resolved... I've just always wondered about it.

Yes I see it all the time I like the one where it says Guest Reporting a Post :D
Sorry no idea.
Okay maybe one.
Maybe someone came onto the board without signing in.
Then signed in.
Then went about their business.
Somehow the software did not recongnize the sign in so everywhere you go it tracks you as a guest.
On the bottom of every page is a link to vbulletin. You might find an answer on there forums.

No, I'm relatively sure they're phantoms. I always see a guest reporting a post to a moderator and then I never get a notice in my email. (And the link at the bottom of the page does not work, but don't tell anyone.) :D

Just maybe, a substantial proportion of the so called guests are "stupid spam attacks" that somehow show up as "guests'! Plus all the adds, promotions and other junk that comes thru the internet... I'm sure there are some honest people checking us out too. ;yn
if you are a member and choose to be hidden when online, you show up as a guest to the rest of us. looks like alot of you don't want the rest to know how often you are at ccdv.com :)
they also could be search robots indexing the site. guest reporting a post is most likely the search spider. I'll make a robots.txt file for ccdv.com. it lets the robots know which links they can skip.

This doesn't appear to be true. I've been on the phone with other "hidden" members while we were the only two online and the site says 0 online, no guests.
