Ok, So I purchased my 95 vette about 10 days ago. Drove it around for a few days till the weather got bad. It has been parked in the garage and not touched for 5 or 6 days.

I opened the door to get something out and noticed the courtesy lights were very dim and I heard a clicking noise from the passenger dash area. Needless to say, it would not start. I jumped it with another car and it did start and the voltage meter was showing that it was charging....normal?

I was told that alot of electronics on the vehicle draw power even when its parked. Is that true?

Also...When I bring it in to Bryner for a going over, can all the outstanding recalls be checked and completed?

I have it on a battery tender now.

Thanks, Steve

Battery Tender should solve your problem with the battery running down, they don't like to sit long without some sort of a charger.

Steve,

A battery tender will not charge your battery. It must be charged first then kept on the tender. The tender does not have enough amps to charge up a dead battery. By the way if you do not charge your battery up it puts a big drain on the alternator and can blow the diodes out. I did that a couple times on my 89.

Even with a new battery you can run it down in a couple weeks without a tender.

On the recalls-Just Ask Bryner to check. They are great at that stuff !!

Does anyone know if this is factually correct or not???? I have heard that the battery drains quicker in storage when the doors are locked because the security system is turned on.

Norm, I think you are correct on that !! Setting the security system I believe does drain the Battery Faster !!
