Hey Gang,
The Bose radio cd player in my car was replaced by a Blaupunkt unit by the previous owner. The fit wasn't that great and whoever did it cut the bezel to make things fit. The job was sloppy. I have a new bezel and I'm leaning towards getting a factory replacement (if available) . I was wondering if the radio from a c5 would fit cleanly or do I need to find one specifically from a '94. Any Thoughts / Suggestions?

Personally, I wouldn't want a Bose from ANY model Corvette. If the aftermarket sounds good to you, just replace the bezel and smile that you're ahead of the game. I'd give you the Bose out of my C6 if the NAV wasn't attached to it!

Bose is an expensive, unreliable pile of poor sounding radio. Each speaker has it's own amp. that always go bad at $125 per speaker (4 speakers). The CD player stops working about every 5 years, simply send it out to be rebuilt for $350. There is a separate receiver buried up under the dash that also can go bad, mine did. Replace the bezel go to Contemporary Corvette in Bristol, PA (Corvette junkyard) Buy a replacement unit that goes with your year car. It don't matter if it works you're just interested in making it look original. Go to this site and buy a hidden radio http://www.vintagevibes.net/Stereos/secretaudio.htm There are others also but I think this one is the most popular. Install the hidden stereo somewhere behind the seat or in the utility compartment. Take out the Bose speaker, you can't use them they are crap anyhow. Save the cloth grills. Get a good set of Polk speakers mount them in place they won't bolt in. You will need to custom fit it.

Mabey I'll just get some new speakers for the time being. I just don't like the way it looks.....and sound is mediocre at best. If there is a faceplate available to clean up the look, I guess I can live with it. jut checkin...

"Mediocre" is about 5 levels higher than the Bose they install in Corvettes. Consider yourself lucky. Keep your eyes open for OEM radios to put on the shelf for the day you sell the car.

If the upgrade was done a while ago, you may just need new speakers because they deteriorate over time. Not to mention speakers have gotten a lot more efficient over the years.
