Richy,
I was wondering the same thing. If Ellis had won I'm sure we would have heard all about it by now.
Win or lose,El's numbers were pretty good.Talk about consistency.I can't imagine what the MOVs were.
I have not had a chance to do a detailed article but there is lots of information including qualifying and pictures and video at http://national.corvettechallenge.info
I had dinner with the club Saturday night and had a great time even though Farley had a problem with my meatballs :)

OK, I'll start off by saying it was a REALLY good time. Fantastic people, not too far to drive, great prize money, well organized, clean comfy hotel, and race-day weather conducive to fast ET's. The weather on the way home could have been better but we did ok.
My car and Tony's car ran identical times all day and we each ran a new personal best of 12.45 in the second time trial. My car seemed to run 1 MPH faster in a couple rounds with no difference in ET but we're satisfied it was probably due to wind.
Seems I used up my good lights during time shots pulling an .029 & .016 along with my best 60's to date. Everything was going great. 1st round I was slower on the tree but it worked out because my opponent went red. That was a good time to find out I was dialed a little too low being I missed by 0.1.
2nd round I went up against Fuzzy Dice from Florida and pushed the tree a little too hard lighting the red by .02. That was sad because he only delivered a .31 and was off his dial by a full 2 tenths. I ran it out and put down a 12.56 on a 12.55 dial. That was his gift for the day.
I had to buy back into the 3rd round for $25 and ran another C6. No need to push the tree especially after the last round, as my opponent proceeded to start his race with a 1.26 RT. I experienced the strange sensation of starting the race ahead of a slower car. I sprinted to the 1/8 mile marker and coasted watching him in the mirror. With visions of breakouts last summer while on the brakes I decided to scrub off even more. I crossed at 75MPH on the brakes 1.3 seconds after my anticipated arrival time taking the win.
4th round was to be the tough one for me. I had to take on Mr Haase a fellow ESCCC racer. I delivered a dismal .13 RT to his .044 but I made him REALLY work from that moment on. I proceeded to run a tight 12.54 on a 12.53 dial. He just squeaked by with a .019 MOV. We didn't know who won until we reached the timing booth where I was the recipient of the yellow 4th round runner-up slip.
Oh well, as it turned out, the track had such a great turnout they decided to give some of it back to the racers. They increased the payout in every level PLUS added a $50 payout to 4th round runners! Woohoo, I got my entry fee back! Not a bad way to end a day that was loads of fun without being a winner.
300 miles, 5 hrs only to race 3 locals:
Edgar, Doug & Devon...
Won 2 rounds, then bulbed -.005 to Devon.. as I bumped in a little too much..
At MIR I ran 9 all time bests, each run beating the other, starting with an 11.22 & ending up with 11.001 on dr's..
Special thanks to Neil Fine who allowed me to tote my car down on his trailor and provided great company during the trip..;mm
We left on Sat late afternoon & beat the bad weather..!!
Good call Neil!
Actually Joe, unlike our Raceway Park series, Steve Oyer, Bill Wilson and I had complete control of the payout after the event expenses. Our goal was to payout 100% of the funds collected from both sponsors and racers in the form of entry and buyback. We came very close to doing so as I have a couple benji's left to kick start next year's race.
Our goal once again will be to pay back to the drivers/participants 100%.
You should have seen the look on the face of one of the track offials when he saw we were splitting out the entire pot to give back to the racers :D

Edgar, Your meatballs looked OK. I thoought you would try something different since you were at a real Italian rest.
I am surprised you did not order a hamburger.

It seems that I am always learning the Vette. Last year I was always learning because at each race I was making a change for it to run slower then 13.50.
This year I am running the car flat out because I installed a roll bar. Now I am going 1 secound quicker and picked up over 10 mph in the 1/4 mile. I am now learning were to stage the car and how and when to hit the brakes on the top end.
Sum everything up = The Vette LOVES to run flat out. It was so consistent.

All 1/4 mile ET's from round 1 and on are calculated from the 1/8th mile time. This track did not have the 1,000 foot ET on the time slips. I dont think the ET's for the 1st round and on are acurate because I was not using the 1,000 foot. Comparing 1/8 mile on my E-town time slips and then comparing the 1,000 foot - There is at least a .05 variable when using the 1/8th mile ET. I always use the 1,000 foot when I need to find out what I would have run if I did not lift. So far this has worked for me.

You made it seem that you eat that all the time. If that is the case, That you dont have them all the time - That is a different story. It is OK to have them.
Thank you for your blessing :) LOL
