Please have pity on the uneducated...
What is the significance of the word "Sticky" on all of the forums that I visit?

When you visit a forum all the posts are listed. The most visited and active posts are automatically placed closest to the top of the list. When a post has the sticky option attached to it by the author, it is automatically put on the top of the list irregardless of how many times it's been visited. The reason for this is so people that visit the forum see this post first. It's good for upcoming events.

The messages are made to "Stick" at the top of the page and NOT move down as they get old. Sticky as in "Sticky Notes" or "Post it Notes".

Once a moderator takes the sticky off, the post becomes like any other normal post and will slide down as other newer posts come in.

Not anyone can make a post a sticky, only guys like Don with those Special CCDV powers can do that kind of thing.

Hey Glenn down the road I'd like to place a sticky on the Corvette Forum hawking the June 2 Roundup. Can you help me with that? If so when would it be the right time?

I can do that. Usually no more than 2 months before the event. IF you give me all the info you want, I can make a nice looking post out of it and have it "Stuck" at the top of the Northeast section.
