I got this pm from a guy and I'm not sure of the answer. Mark can you answer this ??
Hey Bill:
Thanks again for sending me that info on programming the TPS.
I have another question for you.
Will the magnet method work on a C6 ?
I read on the forum that it will work on a C5, but not a C6.
Thanks

The magnet method will NOT work on the C6. There are aftermarket tools besides the GM TPM tool. Send your buddy this link...

Correct, Magnet does NOT work on the C6 TPS.
That bites, the 07' Escalade I can start the program through the DIC, you then inflate or deflate the tire pressure in the set order, and that's it, I have to do that when I switch wheels for the winter. Hard to believe you can not do it on a C6, just trying to save money I guess. :(

Also gone with the C6 is the ability to read your cars error codes. Can't do that any longer through the cars D.I.C. So, you need special diagnostic tools or take it back to the dealer. I guess they realized too many of us C5 guys were taking care of simple problems ourselves by being able to diagnose the problem while sitting in the drivers seat. I think that stinks.
And example, Nick Cip hit the rev limiter in his Z06 (he really hit it hard) at Englishtown. The engine leaned itself out to the point of throwing codes P0171 & P0174 and therefore turning on the Check Engine light.
Nick parked the car and was scared he damaged something.
We read the codes, saw the problem, cleared the codes, Nick went back to the staging lanes, then took 2 or 3 more passes shifting BEFORE 6000 rpms this time and all was fine....
Had we not be able to do that simple test, Nick probably to be safe would have had the car towed from Englishtown to Bryner....... all for a simple code that meant nothing in that situation.
