What is the proper way to apply touch up paint?
ie: brushing on, spray on ......What are the best procedures for a quality
job?
I have a sizeable scratch on the panel under the door...

Todd,
I'd suggest trying to buff out as much of the scratch as possible before attempting a touch up. Silver is a tough color to touch up.
Here's a fix for the chips. Take isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip and dab in
only in the rock chip a few times. Take a clean towel and dry chip. Take
a match out of a match book. Use the opposite end of the head. Dab this
in touch-up paint.(do not thin out touch-up paint) Very carefully dab a
very, very minute amount in the chip. Do not get any paint anywhere
other then the chip depression. The trick here is not to try to fix the
chip in one application. Do this every day until the paint in the chip
is even with the rest of the paint surface. If you do this correctly,
you will hardly notice that chip repair. If the chip repair area is
slightly higher than the adjacent surface, then
you can use 3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze/Swirl Mark Remover #39009 by
hand very gently to even out the chip repair area if necessary....
Remember have patience. Don't try to touch-up the chip all at once. It's
a gradual building up of the paint, that's the trick.
If you need more help, feel free to call me.
Carl, after 5.5 yrs using my Vette as a daily driver, its fender
wells look like they've been sandblasted from the stones & salt.In some spots the torch red paint is gone & only a black base is left.I'm reluctant to have the area re-painted.
Touch up paint doesn't adhere.Suggestions?

Richy, it's best to get the fender wells painted, touchup is ok for a nick or chip (not you NICK :) ) but looks bad when doing many chips. Bit the bullet as long as you can then get it painted. :)

Here is a touch up kit I've thought about buying but never got around to it. The demo video was interesting.

Mark, Thank god the scratch is not on the Z. It's my wifes MR
vert. There is a down to the fiberglass scratch from the bottom
of the door through the lower body panel.
I got some TU paint but have no clue how to handle it.

Hey guys, I follow pretty much the same concept as Carl although I go one step further and wet sand the touch-up with 2000 3M sandpaper, then compound, polish and wax or glass or Zaino. Whatever your choice.
Richy, get the wheelwells done and then for 50.00 I will supply the 3M PPF for your car. This will cover front and back wheelwell openings. This will cut down and should eliminate the divots. Let me know and I can have the material in a day or so. Also if anyone would like to learn how to do any touch-up, (minor), I'd be more than happy to show you.

You have never seen Richy 4 wheeling his Z thru the snow, he needs Imron or Awlgrip boat paint on his Z. ;)
