My 92 LT1 does not have a PCV valve on the valve cover. It has a 90 degree elbow that is the same dia. as a PCV valve. I was in Pep Boys today to pick up oil & filter and I noticed that the FRAM and PUROLATOR reference books both call for a PCV valve for a 92. What do you think? Why would it not have a PCV valve?

I will have to take a look at mine Don. The only reason the PCV valve is there is to keep a backfire from firing back into the engine. Did you check where it goes into the intake?

I didn't trace the hose back put I'm figuring it goes back to the intake system. Maybe because it does not have a intake manifold with a carb the chance of a backfire is eliminated and a PCV is not needed????

It may screw into the intake manifold, they can still backfire and the plentum is your intake manifold.

My '91 has a PCV valve on the driver's side, but on the passenger side I have the 90 degree dummy elbow. Do you have a PCV on the driver's side?

The driver side valve cover is solid. On the passenger side I have the oil filler cap and the 90 degree elbow. This is very confusing the 91 is a LT1 isn't it?

Don--PCV is located on the drivers side intake manifold, under the fuel rail cover. 1991 was last year for the L98(has traditional distributor). LT1 and Opti-Spark were introduced in 1992 and ran till 1996. LT4 was the High Performance LT1 made only in 1996.

Thanks Tony, looks like i'll have to go digging for it. I don't know why they took it off the valve cover it seems to have work pretty good there for the last 20 or 30 years.

Don, the hose should go from the PCV to a tube that's in the underside of the throttle body.:)

He Richy for a split second I started to feel bad for you after reading all the posts in Marks 'Join In' thread. But then I realized it was only gas. Now I'm happy they're hammering you. ;bl ;bl ;bl ;bl
