Aren't we able to delete our own thread, assuming that it is the last thread in line? PLMK ... I tried to delete a thread ... but could not. Curious.

Steve:
My understanding has always been that once you send it, you're (SOL) - unable to delete or change it.

If you go under edit and at the top check delete and then click the box on the right it is gone.

I am familiar with the edit feature ... and use it frequently. I am also aware of the DELETE option ... but it will not let me do it on my SUV tire thread. Here is the response that I received from the server:

vBulletin Message You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
You do not have permission to access the page that you were trying to. Are you trying to edit someone else's post or trying to access administrative features? Check that you are allowed to perform this action in the Forum Rules. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Okay ... so now what? Can someone look into this? I am not sure what the protocol is nowadays.

Proof positive: you learn something new every day & you're never to old to learn. I'm just not sure if it's good or bad knowing I can change or delete posts.

You definatly can edit the post. you could always delete your text and just and something else like a smilie. that way, even though you can't completly delete it you can remove what you said. if you want the whole thread deleted, report the thread to the mods and ask for them to do it.

thanks for taking care of it Bill

Members used to be able to delete their own thread, has that been changed?

---That was the main point behind my thread. I smell a tiny problem. Not sure of the cause. Though it's not a real problem now ... perhaps the situation should be addressed.

Everyone's got an opinion. Here's mine on this subject. I'm not a big fan of people who speak without thinking. Change or delete a thread, what's the point?? Unless there's some MAJOR reason (vulgarity, a direct attack against someone or the Club, etc) I don't think we should have the ability to alter or delete - unless performed by a moderator.
No one's forced to hit the "Submit Reply" button. But once it's done, it should be out there for all to see. I repeat: Everyone's got an opinion. No harm in that.

Joel - On one hand, I would say that ... if something is designed to do something ... and it is not working ... then there is a problem. If there is a problem ... it should be looked into.

On the other hang, is I hat a few spalling mis takes, I nice too bee able to fix them ... witch I do quiet often! :)

Steve:
I hear ya (I think) and you do have a point. I've caught some gruesome misspellings after I sent a few posts.
See you at the meeting tomor. night? I have an announcement about the next Sunshine Dreamlift and I think you had an interest.

Joel, the option to delete a thread once posted should be working. If I post a thread that is already covering the subject I should be able to delete my post. It just makes for a cleaner message board. Not sure if other boards have this or not but I don't think it is that big of a deal to fix. We had about 5 or 6 threads covering a racing subject, didn't know where to look.
