I'm getting lots of good info from this forum thanks all. I have another question. My 90 coupe has stock wheels and some of the clear coat has come off, it looks bad. I bought some clear coat in a spray can made just for wheels. I plan on getting as much of the original clearcoat off as possible by scrubbing and maybe fine steel wool. Then use the clear coat . Has anyone tackled this? It seems like a common problem.

I wouldn't do it!!! There are local people that will completely refinish your wheels. Last time I checked at about $100. Per. Might be cheaper if just getting the clear redone. Bob Weiss

While most of the catalogs offer clear coat refinishing kits, with chemicals to strip off the clear coat I know you have to be darn careful with the stuff.
If somebody does it for $100. ea. I'd jump at it...

Call them and tell them what year the wheels are and the condition ( curb rash , dent, etc.) and they will give you a ball park price. I had the wheels on my 93 done by them and they were perfect when I picked them up. One rim had a dent and curb rash, 1 had just curb rash, all 4 refinished and the bill was $504.'s When I picked them up they had re-balanced them and put the weights on the inside of the wheel.. Great job. Bill

There used to be a location in Huntingdon Valley. I think it might even be with the same Company. I'll see if I can dig it up. Ken Laver would know if someone has Ken's Email Address. Bob Weiss
