Small group went. Ellis, Edgar, Joe, Al, Mike Wicks and myself. Al broke out first round, Mike W. red lighted, rest went to second round. Joe and Ellis went out. I went out in the quater finals, Edgar went to the finals, cut a perfect .500 light and broke out by .02 of a second. Great race Edgar! We had some fun today!

Correction, I made it into the ladder. :D But they should have given me a trophy for the luckiest SOB, not Closest Dial Award. :D
Congrats to Tony and Edgar for making it so far. ;bt
Tony thanks. Just got back from Dinner with a few guys.
It was real hard to cross that stripe and see the other guys light come on. Oh well I made a nice points jump as both Rob Farley and Ralph Savarese went out first round and I kept pace with points leader Blass who went to the Semi's
Ellis, you are now the last one left with for a perfect first round season. Canel the party!!!

Sorry for that misinformation Joe. I stand corrected. That happens a lot when you get up around my age. :D
Yep, a great day of racing for sure!
Weather was great, DA about 1800 & falling.
Edgar's rep is preceeding him as he got 4 "gifts", red colored to go to the finals!!!
He is one intimidating force, and opponents know they have to cut a super light to even have a chance!
The final race was awesome! Tremendous job Edgar!!!
I sense an event victory will be yours this season!
My car is not right.... In 1800 DA I ran a 12.411, then in 900 DA I SHOULD have run a 12.37, but ran a 12.44, and still hooked up with a 1.81 60' time.
My 60' times have not been under 1.81 all year, while last year I ran plenty of 1.75's....
Anyone have any idea as to whats going on?
Not sure if its tranny or the torque converter, but after my 2-3 shift, my car feels like its doing nothing...no pull at all...
In the 2nd round I cut a .550 light but lost to a .514 light as we were both .04 off our dials..
Edgar, since you missed a race, and I will be missing Nov 1, there will not be a perfect 1st round award.
Will there be one for "most 1st round wins"?
That may have alot of guys still eligible...
I still can't get over just how many good racers there are in our club & at the Challenge.
I'd like to see more early spring & fall events if the track can accomodate us. Summer is tough on all of us.
The RACE WARS in the AM was fun, but in my calss, 12.99 & faster, there was only 4 imports, so most of the time was domestic vs domestic.
I went 3 rounds, before getting my section "L" seat by cutting a .495 red.
Anyway, a good night for all of us. Thanks Tony, Rose & Mom for taking up the tires & jack & impact gun.
Awesome performance Edgar!;yn

You think that .500 light in the final will help me get a few more red wins? Yes some of those reds were VERY red. I don't really like winning that way. I would rather see my opponent, if concerned about me, forget about me and run their race.
Ellis, there is NO award for perfect season, just recognition.
Until you miss the your race I will not post any new stat but will likely post it at some other time.
Thanks for the suggestion on the earlie and later races. I was thinking more along the lines of a more evenly distributed schedule like every three weeks. You have to remember RP is trying to make money and they would not be in business if they did not run there racers all summer and you gotta admit, we are a good money maker for them. Just business on that.
Hey remember Mike and I have to where a fire jacket on those hot days. I know it is nothing compared to the sacrafice you make to race on those hot day in your business but I do appreciate you making it:D

I know you'd rather race a guy for the win but lets face it, you're not going to be beaten too many times on the tree unless the other guy pushes it. All it takes is a little too much traction and you go red on a close light. It's happened to me on a few occasions. I just wish I'd get a little "respect" on the tree and a few early Christmas "gifts". ;)
Right on Tony!!!
In my best Rodney Dangerfield impression,
"I don't get no respect".....
In the time I've been racing, all last year & this year, every one of my wins I had to win outright.
No one has EVER redlighted against me, and in just last event, in the US Muscle war, I won a race for the 1st time when my opponent broke out.
I would have thought those 2 things would have happened at least a FEW more times than just that 1 time....
Oh well.... haha!
I never get any breaks!
Tony I bet Savarese will give you some respect now;)
El, better you win them all cause you are getting valuable lessons there.
Where is everyone else? Out having fun while I spent all day doing web pages?

Had a great time racing as always. But that last walk to the car was a killer. I got the x-rays today and it looks like there is no break. :D I just have an ankle that looks like I have a baseball growing out of the side.
Al what happened? I did not realize you got hurt.

Yeh. I stepped in a hole in the paving between the stands on the way to the parking lot. Tony, Rose, and a few others were there to witness my swan dive and help me get up an back to the car. Sure am glad I have cruise control in the C5. Couldn't hold the gas pedal for any length of time coming home.
Sorry to hear it,Al.
I apologize for posting this here, but I know only the racers will be interested.Talked with Elliot's father today.Elliot is a freshman at
Del Val,deciding to stay at home near his race car. This is a 2,200hp Camaro according to his father who just bought him a SUPER CAB with duallies to haul the custom trailer currently being
built for the race car.El will be campaigning the car across the USA intending to have the fastest car on 10.5 " wheels. The Z06 is still part of the collection.

Thanks Tony - we had a beautiful day and the wedding was fantastic. Now, back to the original thread, I was wondering if the cooler air was giving you guys lower ETs on Saturday. Ellis mentioned the DA was much lower, 1700 I think.

Depends on who you talk to but generally yes, we were running quicker. I would have run quicker if I wasn't spinning so bad off the line. I couldn't get under a 2.01 60' time, but I was running consistent 13.3's when I wasn't on the brakes.;jj I'm still experimenting with air pressure in the "new" tires.
Bill I had no idea El was doing that kind of racing..
Carl yes I was running faster. In my case it is hard to tell if it was weather or the engine breaking in. I ran an 11.60 new best on the new motor at 117. Previous best was an 11.77

Al, follow the doctors orders so you're back racing quickly!
Glad the weather worked out for you Carl. My ET's were off due to car troubles. Even as the DA went down, some of my ETs went up. Bryner has the car as I write this but so far have not found any issues. Steve will change the fuel filter and perhaps clean the injectors. He'll test the cats for back pressure and go from there. Dyno tuning is next on the list.
