So yesterday I go to get into my 2006 corvette and when I push the button to start her up it says No FOB Detected. Figuring that its battery somehow died I tried my other key with FOB and it says the same thing.

So I put one of the FOBs in the glove box where it says in the manual to put it when the battery is dead and it starts up.

Ever since though the car starts up no problem with either FOB. Is this normal?

This is kinda fishy since the car is only a couple months old.

Check for devices that cause elecrical interference. That includes iPods, radar detectors and remotes from other cars.

Jim, we had the same problem as you. However the car would not start with either fob. The problem was my keys to my '96 Vette, also passive entry, were close enough to the car to shut the system down. Steve Spencer at Bryners said to make sure there are no devices that transmit RF waves. They will interfere with your car fob. When it happened to us I had to use the emergency door release to get out. The good news is that Tom-Tom (GPS) does not interfere with the fobs, at least in our car.;sr

Check you're owners manual. I think there is something about putting the
FOBs in the module on the riders floor and it will re-program. I could be speaking out my a** but check that manual anyway becaus , sometimes it's a easy fix.

I just stick it in my right pocket now. Hopefully it wont happen again.

I don't know if this will help but I have a VW Passat with the remote door and trunk unlock on my fob also. I have an aftermarket sirius satelite radio installed in the car too. The sirius transmits a FM freq. to the car's factory radio, they do that so you don't need to hardwire it in. However when the sirius is on and transmiting I need to hold the fob within 1 foot of the front left quarterpanel (which is were the remote unlock reciever is) for it to work. When the sirius is off it will work almost a block away;ae . It's like that everytime. I would assume that if I parked next to someone else and left my sirius on they too would have the same problem unlocking their car.

Actually Richy I've heard that when someone is operating a sirius radio with 10 feet of you it causes you to pee your pants and then you forget who you are for 30 minutes. Is that right?

RAGMOP,now that you know my dirty secret, don't bring your Vette near me with the top down.Rather than wetting my pants,I have an alternate discharge mode.

my 05 C6 would not start unless the FOB was in the little slot near the glove box, the dealer said that was there for when the FOB battery was weak. Problem was both FOB's behaved the same way, kind of random, a real pain in the behind areas..... after going nuts with repeated complaints to the service boys (after all, how could both FOB batteries die in the first year of life??), they changed the transponder, and I never had the problem again.
