I found a 65 roadster. Good car with a 396 from a passenger car. Car is originally a small block that has been converted. It has been sitting untouched for 10 years after frame off 12 years ago. New top, perfect interior, good black paint, under hood looks good. Here is the problem. No trim tag, no Vin plate, only a sticker where the VIN used to be that says reissued VIN by the state of NY. Title is a rebuilt title. Any idea how much this hurts the car? What is it worth? Thanks for the info.

If you're looking for something to drive it might be a good value if it's cheap, much less then $10K. Sounds like a good candidate to make a restorod out of. With no VIN tag to match anything to it's just a bunch a parts. It would at least we be worth something if it had a "Corvette" engine. I've seen C2s over the years that were nothing but a bunch of mismatched parts thrown together. Some have been very nice looking but non have been worth much.

Make sure someone knowledgeable checks that baby out real good! Even with what may seem like a good deal can easily turn into a major disaster. I've seen my share of 1st time Vette buyers get burned big time. So just remember the "Buyer Beware" statement!!
Hopefully the Vette is as it seems but if you are not "totally" familiar with mid-years, better latch on to someone who is!!

unless you plan on just enjoying it for a fun driver, never showing it or ever plan to sell it i'd skip this car.
The non-original motor hurts the value somewhat but lets face it, after 40 years or so MANY, MANY cars are NOM cars but the killer on the car is the lack of trim and VIN tags. That right there will cut the value of the car significant;y as will the rebuilt title.
If the car is in overall good condition, solid frame, and runs decently I'd say between $10K-$15K value tops.
If you never plan on selling it or putting it thru judging than it's really worth whatever YOU are willing to pay because these downsides wouldn't come into play unless you try to resell it or have it judged.
