Been on Lipitor Since Feb, but after blood work, the dr called and said something about the "muscle function" levels were way high, asked if I was sore & aching...

I feel fine, but he said to come in for another test to check it again..
Said it was so high that he might have to stop the Lipitor, and was leery of changing to another "statin" because of this affect.

I know there's another type of cholerestol lowering drug that works in the digestive system, not the liver, but not sure of the side affects.

Thing is I feel fine, no muscle soreness at all, and the dr was extremely suprised at that..

Here's what the Lipitor did so far:
Cholesterol from 267 to 170
Triglyecerides from 57 to 44
HDL stayed the same 74
LDL from 181 to 87

But again, something about the muscle function....

Wow, I had no idea meds could lower it by such a large percentage. Congrats.

El, ask him about ZETIA 10 MG. per day. it's the one that works in the digestive system. I take it with no side affects.

I take Zocor and have no problems. Lissa took Zocor and her tongue swelled up so she had to switch to Lipitor. You may have to try a few different brands but it's important because you'll probably be on the stuff the rest of your life.

Maybe we should ask AARP about becoming a co-sponsor of the club?Perhaps they might like to share a booth with us at Carlisle? Could also be an enticement for joining CCDV,i.e.,combined AARP/CCDV membership.

On the re-test the muscle functions are normal..

Another test in 6 weeks..still staying in the Lipitor for now.

The Dr said it could have been elevated due to extreme excersice, because prior to the test, I played hockey Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, & took the test on Tues..

Now, that would explain a lot! Congrats on your lower numbers. :)
