Ellis,
I called Ronal, they will have a rep at Carslile this weekend, going to check them out. Went out Friday, Back from the show, met the Ronal man who has the rights in North America to market the wheels, very nice guy, very knowledgeable, and helpful, Ordered Ronals, can't wait to get them. Also ordered Pilot Sports. Any Suggestions.

Just bolt em on & go!

My car was in the Ronal booth on Sat.

Gary is a great guy.

Ellis,
The wheels & tires should be here this Thurs. 8/28/03, can't get into Bryner's until Sept. 6, having wheels/tires put on, sensors set to the car's computer, and an alignment.
I am surprised Gary didn't say anything to you, I mentioned your name when I bought my wheels on Friday. He had pictures of the color combo. I purchased.

My tires & sensors came mounted.

All I did was bolt them on & train the sensors with a magnet.

Ellis,
My Ronals / Pilot Sports arrived Friday about 5 pm, on the car by 7 pm. Wow! what a difference in ride, tire noise, and performance, not to mention the appearance, awsome. They came mounted, balanced and ready to go, with new sensors. Did not need to use magnet, no odd readings, the info center read exactly the pressure in the tires, but I'll have Steve Spencer check them when he aligns the car this Friday. I would love to upload some pics, I tried and was unable to, I must be doing something wrong. I can get to my pics through the brouse function, but when I click on it the pic does not show on the thread. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks Greg Clemens

Greg,

You may be getting readings from all 4 tires, but are they in the correct position that the computer thinks they're in? As you said, Steve can check it out @ Bryner or just do a quick retraining. It only takes about 2 minutes to do (if you go slow). The readings may be saying 30 PSI on each tire, but the one that reads "right front" might actually be your "left rear". The pressure system only knows which sensor is where by the training exercise. It would be a great coincidence if they got placed on each wheel correctly.

Getting away from the GY runflat noisemakers is a major improvement for me as well, both in traction and noise.

Since your sensors are new and you did not train them, they are NOT sending info to the computer. Your 2001 car is showing the last correct reading it ever recieved from your old sensors. You must do the re-learn procedure with these new sensors. You are not seeing info coming from your new sensors.

Good point Glenn. On my 97, the display will show a blank entry for the pressure when no data is sent. The later models seem to have a memory feature of last known pressure. My bad. :(

You can retrain the sensors yourself with a magnet, following the procedure in the owner's manual in about 2 minutes time. I use a magnet out of an old stereo speaker that is about 5 inches in diameter. It works just fine. No other tools required.

Thanks for all you input. Tires came mounted & balanced, with new sensors. Steve Fisher at Bryners aligned the car,and trained the sensors, all is great. I noticed a huge difference in the ride, tire noise, and handling. Everyone told me the run flats are noisy and hard riding, but I never realized how much. The larger tires and pilot sports make a very noticable improvement. Car looks great.
Thanks, Greg Clemens

You didn't have to give up the run flat feature just to get better ride quality, because the Pilot Sports come in run-flat (Zero Pressure) and All Season variations. There is even an A/S ZP Pilot Sport that has ratings similar to the tire you bought.
