Once again our activities chairperson,Don Terranova ,has pulled off another great event .The trip to the AC car show was enjoyable & not damaging to any CCDVers' pocketbook.
The dinner at Angelo's was up to its usual standards & thanks to
Ginny Wydominic for arranging it.
In response to Mark's inquiry elsewhere,I watched the auction for 2 hours.A kind hearted usher, recognizing my advanced age(& Sopranos' demeanor) let me sit in a seat directly in front of the stage.Having been conditioned by countless(wasted) hours watching Barrett Jackson,I was surprised at the low percentage of cars sold( maybe 20 %) & the ridiculous reserve prices set by most prospective sellers.
You have to wonder what planet some of these people are from?
Someone turned down a $300,000 bid on a numbers matching(aren't they all?) ' 67 black 427/435 roadster!!!!!!
They were several real bargains that went unsold or went for ridiculously low prices. The one I really liked was a yellow(I'd even accept this color in this case ) blown pro-street shark. The workmanship was magnificent & the owner (with no hand on a bible) said there was a $150,000 in the car including $60,000 for the motor. It went for $29,000.
Again, thanks to Don & Ginny for arranging this outing.
