Looking for personal user experience on the best all around brake pads for a C5. We are basically talking everyday driving except for the 1/4 mile a few weekends a year. No auto cross just basic Corvette driving. (so far) What about the new pads that yield less dust or at least less visible dust. Has anybody used these? I know you can get cheap pads and you can get pads that you would think were made of gold, where is the middle line.
Thanks Jim

You can't beat the AC-Delco OEM brakes pads in my opinion.
I used a dustless that wasn't really very dustless and seemed to stop okay. Problem is I cannot remember which brand it was.

I've been using EBC Green brakepads for @ 4 years. They are advertized as dustless but they still produce dust, although they produce (less dust) than the OEM pads, so I guess in that respect they are dust-less. Anyhow I'm very happy with the performance of the pads and the dust that is produced is easily removed. Pads are made from Kevlar. You can get them at Pep Boys too! Cost I believe is @$60-$70 per axel. Oh, and before I put them on I painted them black high temp paint cause they really are green!
The best pads for a C5 Corvette are Hawk HPS street pads, lower dust than stock pads and better stopping. Hawk also makes a ceramic pad that will make almost no dust, but you will give up a little stopping distance over the HPS street pads. I had Hawk HPS pads on all of my C5's. :)
I'm with Carl.Installed Hawk pads on my car several years ago.Although the stock Z06 pads had the best stopping power of any pads I've used, the dust build up was incredible. The only difference I've noticed with the Hawks is that at the top end of the track, stopping from 120+mph requires a little more pedal pressure.Get them.

Thanks guys for all the information, I understand I can get OEM from the dealer, EBC Green from Pep Boys. Where is a good place to get a decent price on the Hawks.
I like all the suggestions especially Mike's, sorry Mike not gonna happen this year.

They will help high speed stopping, as well as stopping in general.

I'm using ceramic pads on my 98 this time around and absolutely love them so far. I was constantly cleaning my wheels with the oem pads. Not any more. These stop just fine after the 1/4 mile but I haven't tried them autocrossing yet. It may be a different story once they heat up.
I did not like the Hawk HPS pads as much as I do the STOCK AC DELCO ones..
Steve Spencer recommends the stock pads as well...
