... well, not really ... but I thought you might like to see how a C5R uniquely placed their light modules. I kind of like them on this car ... and would like them this way on a C6 ... but think they would likely be too low.
Whaddya think???
Wonderful,Steve. With this configuration, not only can some idiot
back into one's Vette and destroy the front body work, they can also wipe out the headlights. Also, will speed bumps block the light ?

Guess you are right Richy ... those small parking lot "taps" would be expensive (I think the units are $400 - $600 per side for the C5R). The lights work well on the C5R (sans turn signals), and looks great at night. I like the way they look on the car. They're basically the C5 sealed beams (retrofitted as Halogens) mounted in a fixed position.
Ewwww....dosen't do anything for me, think I will keep looking.

I think you guys are missing the point. The lamps used on a Grand Am car would obviously be different as compared to a street legal car. The size of the headlight openings on the C5R is similar to that of a C5.
If the C6 is going to have flush mouted headlights ... they will have to be recessed somehow. Either they will be "frenched" (recessed into a curved area of the sheet metal) like the Miitsubishi Eclipse, or recessed into a flat area of sheet metal.
Guess it comes down to those who are anti-fixed headlights? Let's face it - regardless of whether you prefer pop-up's - the decision has apparently already been made by GM!

No one is missing the point. Those lights are ugly. What's there to miss? They are just plastered onto the front of that car, right over the area of the design for the airducts to the intake and brake cooling scoops are. I know they do not use those vents on this car, BUT they put the design of them on the body.
Anyway, no one here that said they didn't like them missed anything! Those lights are ugly and the way they put them on that car is down right shoddy looking.
Here's how to do it.:D

Yes, Glenn, you DID miss the point! I could care less about the recessed (Mistubishi) style lights (10-4???). That wasn't what I was talking about.
The #64 that you posted, appears to be a GT, while the #05 and Dale Sr/Jr's #3 are GTS cars. I'm sure you are familiar with the differences in the classifications. That aside, with the installation of the headlight assemblies, the near perfect 50/50 weight balance is skewed ... nose heavy. Since daytime races do not need headlights, they are not used, and the weight balance is saved. In addition, with the use of separate headlight assemblies, any front-end wreck would require additional time for repairs. You knew that - right Glenn? You knew what I meant - right?
As for the "area for the air ducts" ... I am sure you are familiar with how NASCAR uses nose and tail templates to replicate the Taurus, Monte Carlo, Intrepid and Grand Prix - right? Same thing in this case as well. If you happened to look at the previous pictures, you will see that the gas filler and vent just happened to overlap over the CORVETTE script on the rear fascia. Okay, you knew that, and condemn the entire class because of that. Sure, okay, I understand.

Whaddya think???
And when everyone said "What they thought" you said we all missed the point. What point? You said "Whaddya think???" and we told you!
BUT, you say we missed the point????????
Calm down dude! Those lights are ugly and look like an after thought! And you think they should do the C6 like that?????????
You asked, we gave you our answers!
They are ugly. For exposed lights on a Corvette, I showed you what I think are nice and what I like.
Now calm down and take it easy!
Your Remax car is fugly. You asked, if you don't want the truth, don't ask. :D :D :D :D

It's a C5-R ... using a C5 nose (template) ... with the headlights relocated. Better pic is posted at

I haven't seen an Avanti in a while. Would like to see that made today!
