My Vette is not going to see the road again till a good rain storm washes off all of the salt.I pulled my Vette off of the road for a while. Yesturday I did the interior, jacked it up off the floor and am going to re Zaino it and polish the wheels.

I am wondering if it would be a good idea to clay bar it again and start with Zaino all over??? I clay barred it last June and currently has four coats of Zaino on it.

Norm, unless you clay the hell out of your car you will not remove all your Zaino by claying. Wash and then clay, then rewash and use your Zaino. If you have any questions please call me. :)

I skipped the clay bar and stuck on a few coats of Zaino yesturday. Hate to brag but I really got it looking good right now. I am hoping for a late season hurricane to hit us because The Vette isn't going to go anywhere till the salt is washed off of the roads. The only thing I got left to do is the wheels.

Hi Norm !
Ron T from Attention To Detail !!

Re Zaino !
Wash your car with dawn dish detergent it will remove the wax.
After the dawn wash, use a car wash to remove all the dawn.

Instead of using zaino try using RejeX like I put on your Mooney!
I used this on my 84' it came out great!
I use it with a britener and I feel it's as good if not better than the Zanio.

If you have any ?'s give me a call.

Dawn does not and will not remove Zaino, and Rejex is average at best.

Carl,
Out of curiosity, if you have many multiple coats of Zanio on your car and you want to strip and start over, how would you remove the old Zaino? If you cannot remove it by "clay barring the hell out of it" and "blue dawn will not remove it", what would you do. Is there any benefit to stripping the old Zaino at some time or do you just keep building it up?

Jim, I have a two customers in Jersey (we are the only ones that ship to NJ, the factory does not) that have had Zaino on their cars for 18 and 15 years, both are Mercedes, and since Zaino does not yellow or crack there is no need to ever strip it off and "start over" . If you would want to strip it off you could use rubbing alcohol on a cotton towel, or several body shop strippers like Prep-Sol on a cotton towel, and of course any abrasive product like a Paint Cleanser will strip it off too.

Great stuff Carl ! ;bt However, I have a question. Yesterday I washed & put a couple of coats of Z5 on our new C6. I noticed that it was smeary (is this a word?). It came out upon alot of buffing, but, was this because of the humidity? Or maybe the heat? It was done in the garage and out of the sun. I had ZFX mixed with it too and when all was done Reds looks great ! ;yn Just wondering. ;tt I'd appreciate any input.

Mike,

You might want to wait a bit between coats. The Humidity does have some negative effect. Throw a coat of Z8 over it now and watch the finish come alive. Monty red should look fantastic after some Zaino. I'm happy to help with it if you want.

Best regards,
Mark

Mark, I did wait 45 mins between coats. I do think it was the humidity. However, I never noticed this before on my pewter Vette of course. Just was a little frustrating.

Mike probably a combo of a little to thick and it was very humid, the new Z-5 Pro is much better in humid conditions, was I suppose to say that ;) We did have like 6" of rain the last few days, you probably would not have had the problem if you applied it outside your garage. Call me I have something for you to try the next time. :)
