Has anyone replaced the power steering pump to gear hose in a 96? If so, degree of dificulty and estimated man hours to complete. Long story short, I was enjoying a nice ride until I had to make a sharp turn and could'nt turn the wheel. Looked under hood a saw power steering fluid had been sprayed on under side of hood from a leak.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hey Ron, the GM manual has 6 steps to remove and 6 steps to replace the inlet hose assembly. However there are a couple of special tools to remove & replace the pump pulley, although a regular gear puller might work. You do have to remove the air intake duct to get to the pump. Let me know if you want to borrow my manuals.

Thanks Tony. I will wait till after the new year to tackle this project. I was suprised to find out that the power steering pump to gear hose is $115.00 and that the 96 power steering pump is no longer in GM stock. I will probably replace the pump with a re-manufactured unit that also cost around $115.00
I have the 96 manuals on my christmas list, will see if Santa thinks I was good this year or not.
