HELP ... how do you get pine sap off of the paint without destroying the clear coat ... the only thing i've found so far is rubbing alcohol and i've destroyed several spots on my wife's pt cruiser (candy apple) ... i'm at a loss .. forget tar remover ... forget melting the stuff first with a hair dryer ... the cahinsaw to the trees will take place next week ... but ... i still need to remove the pine tar ... i need a remedy that works before i touch the vette! (or for that matter my F-250) ... thanks

by the way ... attended your last cruise night ... very nice production ... very enjoyable

I would try warm/hot water wash first, if that does nothing I would clay the car. Pine sap is the worst.

As Carl said I'd start with HOT water and Dawn dish detergent first. If that doesn't work I'd try PPG ACRYLI-CLEAN DX330. You can only purchase it at an auto paint store. It cost apx. $20.'s a gal. ( Only comes in a gal.) It's safe for clear coats and will remove wax, tar, grease, silicons. I keep a can around all the time for the hard to remove junk that the cars picks up. Bill

I use plain old fashoned turpentine and it dosen't hurt a thing and it is fast.
