Any advice for me going to the dealer to check out this car tommorow. I would like to trade in my 1992 deville for it. Advice on how to get more off the price of the car and more for my current car? Basically on how to deal with the dealer.
I always start by offering them several grand less than they are asking, get all the pricing info you can from Kelley Blue Book and like sites, you have a trade so that is against you, usually. I moderate a Caddy site http://www.cadillacforums.com/ where you may get more info as well. You can get some good deals on Caddy's, Kerbeck has some great buys on Caddy's too

They KNOW but of course won't give you any clue that they know that this car is not very desirable these days.
An 8 cylinder tank of a car with gas over $3/gallon is not a fast mover right now.
Use that to YOUR advantage.....

A 92 DEVILLE!
Unless your buying new, Your better off selling it outright.
Go with cash in hand and offer them $9500.00

James, I think you'll like the STS a LOT more than that DeVille but be careful, I looked at some STS's and a lot of them were beat. If possible have a mechanic put it on a lift. Personally, I think Caddy's depreciate way too quickly. I agree that you should offer a few grand less than the asking price. At this point a dealer may be happy to lighten inventory and break even. Speak directly to the sales manager if possible. As for the DeVille, I hope you enjoyed it cause it's gonna cost you.
Now for some real advice. Find the car that you REALLY want/need and stick with it. Everytime you purchase a car you're throwing money out the window. After just a few times you threw away what could have been a nice down-payment on some real-estate which has the ability to pay you back.

What I wanted was a newer cadillac but no way can I afford one so I will settle with a 2000 on up. The max I can afford for one is $14k.
My business isn't that established yet where I can afford new cars. My current cadillac only gets 13mpg. I want something newer with less miles that holds around the same ammount of my current cadillac basically.
BTW, I do not buy non American cars and cadillac is MUCH better then bmw and mercedes in my book.

I have owned several Cadillac's and they have been good cars, much better than Benz or BMW? , I have yet to see that. :)

Was just offered a 2004 CTS for $22k from a friend of mine.
I would really have to cut some corners in my spending for that BUT it has a 3 year warranty left on it and only has 10k miles.
I'm so confused.

I saw 05's for around 30k with the employee discount, 22k is a good price for an 04' with 10k miles

Thats what I'm thinking with the warranty and age of the car. But the STS is almost 10k cheaper.
Hell, I'm gonna sell the Z06 and get a C4.

But when you start throwing the maintenance $$$$$$ into the STS.............
And it is already 5 years old - 6 model years now.

James,
I don't mean to be harsh, but you always seem to want us to help you make up your mind. How do you make business decisions?
A Caddy, better than a BMW or a MERCEDES!
Getting rid of your Z-06 for another 84 CROSS FIRE PIECE OF SH-T
I Think you need professional help or a FRONTAL LABOTOMY ;ce ;faz
You need to grab the BULL by the HORNS and go for it.
In the end, it really doesn't matter what we say, What really matters iswhat makes your boat FLOAT!

James you may want to think about how you will feel about that Caddy when your filling it up and watching your paycheck go flying out the exhaust. I just got a 2005 VW Passat diesel it's not a Fleetwood Brougham but it's 38MPG around town and about 44MPG on the hgwy. That brings the cost of gas down to 1980 prices for me.
As far as trading in the Z06 for a C4, to each his own. However when you are standing in that line you will more than likely be knocked down by people running the other way.

James,
There is a Caddy Seville just like the one in your link 4 sale privately around the corner from me. I just saw it today. You'll probably be able to work a better deal privately than with a profit minded dealer.
If you like I can check it out and get you some info. on the car for you. You might save enough money for the SHRINK :D
Let me know.

This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. I agree with Rick, you just need help.
Oh BTW, my first rule of hiring any kind of contractor is never hire the guy with the nicest vehicles, or the crappiest vehicles. Once when I worked for a computer company in Exton I showed up at a clients site in my Corvette and they immediately called my boss to negotiate cheaper rates.
In your line of work you should be driving a minivan. Perhaps something with all wheel drive if your clients need 24x7 service in any weather. Or how about a hybrid Escape in January when the feds will be offering cash incentives instead of the piddly tax deduction they have now. Hybrids will be eligible for over $3000 cash back from uncle sam if you can wait until 2006 (you can order it now though).

Buy a VW, great look and great mileage. Ask Don or myself, and hey Don, I love your new car, looks hot.....you should let Chris drive it more, she was all smiles at Cruise Night :)
