I'm fighting off the urge to buy a C6 and thinking I might want to just put some money into my C5. Somehow, in my twisted logic, I think I will be saving money by dumping thousands into my C5.

Anyone have any good experience with any local car stereo installers, specifically with experience on C5 Corvette installs? I'm thinking about doing it up with the whole NAV screen and everything so I would need someone who is comfortable shaving the trim and bezels and not butchering the job.

Depends on what you call local. My son is Devon Bole, he has gone on a few CCDV outings and has been racing at Englishtown at the Corvette Challange. Devon has been into Audio electronics for about 7 years. He knows several people who do installs both in Jersey and PA. He has done installs and has been in sales over the years.
He has only one reccomendation that he would feel comfortable with. there are many butchers out there, there are a few good mechanics out there but as he said, if you were talking a Honda Civic or a run of the mill rice burner he could reccomend a few people.
There is a shop in New Jersey called Sound Automation, the manager there is one of the best my son has seen, he used to work for Devon when Devon was manager at Tweeter in Princeton. Sound Automotive works on a lot of high end cars, he has cut and shaved real wood grain dashes in luxuery cars. Devon called him this morning and he said you could feel free to come in and talk to him no strings attached. He will honestly tell you what he can do for you or what you should be looking for. When you do see him mention Devon's name and that you are from the CCDV. He will be able to hook you up with a CCDV club discount.
Television, GPS, Sattelite receivers, high end auto sound systems any thing you want.

Good luck, let me know how you make out. If you need more information you can email me at jwbbbb@comcast.net or on the board. I check both a couple times a day.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, keep 'em coming! The place in Jersey doesn't seem too far, especially if they're good. It would be worth the trip. I appreciate you making a call and asking about it this for me.

I'll also check out the Glenside place because its so damn close to me and an "Ellis Gray recommendation" is going to be a place that has high standards. Thanks for posting the pics, I remember seeing your car stereo setup in person a few times, it sounded awesome too as I recall from a few cruise nights last year or the year before.

I like it alot.. Works especially well in a coupe..
Tight soild bass but sure does hit hard and thump when called for..
I'm not a big fan of the "blarring" bass..
My interest was to get something that brings in the bottom end, without being overly abrasive...

The JL Stealthbox sub powered by the right amp is killer!
I'm sure you will like it as hundreds already do!

I don't know how many C5's they've done but you can call World Wide Stereo in Montgomeryville. Ask for Mario and you can mention my name if you want. They stand behind their work and aren't satisfied until you are. That said, they aren't the cheapest.

I'd love to get a C6 right now but it seems like I'd be paying another $25K for more horsepower and a fancy NAV system along with the prestige of having a C6. I think I will try to sell myself on spending a few thousand on a decent audio system. That should buy me some time and save me some cash in a twisted way.

Thanks El
I agree exactly with what you said about the blaring bass. Some folks think the is all a sub is for. Your reasoning about the fill in is so correct.
