Well we had our club picnic August 13th as planned. Paul and Ginny had about 20 cars show up for the covered bridge cruise, a very nice scenic drive. We began the picnic at 1pm the caterers did a great job. Thanks to Nick and Anne Scull for organizing the picnic.
On the downside was the weather. That day was the hottest most unGodly uncomfortable day I have spent since, I can't remember. The heat and humidity was so oppressive it was impossible to move without breaking out into a sweat. In the 10 years I spent in Texas I can't remember being that hot and sweaty. This is a learning experience the next picnic will be at a place that will have a swimming pool available to us. I won't chance another day like this ever again. Go figure I was watching the weather channel all week hoping for a dry day on Saturday by 2 pm I was praying for rain to cool things down.
The picnic broke up much earlier than we had planned about 3pm, it was not an official cancellation we all just had to leave and find air conditioning to keep from suffering heat exhaustion. Mother nature's a bitch.
Had a great time.
Hey Don .... Ease up on Mother Nature ... you never know what she'll do next. Love the thought of having the picnic where there is a swimming pool. Hope we can work it out next year.
Thanks to everyone who came out for the cruise .. can't help thinking about the guys in the Army National Guard who were physical training in Lenape Park doing a two mile run. Guess we can't complain, too much.
Out thanks to Nick and Anne and Don & Chris. It is a great club .... we know how to have fun even when we're suffering from heat stroke.
Hope to see many club members next Sunday at out roving breakfast and cruise to Crystal Cave.

Sorry we couldn't attend. We had 2 unexpected deaths in our family & I spent all day putting up a patio roof. Hot ain't the word for it!!;yn;yn What a miserable summer.! Guess it could be all rain. A pool would be nice. The ocean even better..:D

To HOT , To COLD, To WET, TO DRY! Just kidding, it was HOT yesterday. Sorry we didn't make the picnic. My knees been acting up again and I just plain forgot the date
A POOL is the way to go. We, Arleen and I spent the entire day in ours. Ice cold drinks and 87 degree water, floating on a nice raft.
It don't get no better than that :D
3:30am now. I'm heading out to the pool with my coffee.

Great job to everyone who helped to organize the cruise and picnic. That was the first time I ever drove through a covered bridge. They were really neat the way they were designed and dated back to 1871.
Don - Yes the heat was unbearable but in 3 months we are going to wish we were back at Washington Crossing.
I am now the 2005 Bochi Ball champ and looking forward to next year's games.

Hey Don it was a fantastic time even though the heat was unbearable, I told you we all could have moved it over to the folks house :) There wasn't too many people, we could have fit...
Next year picnic idea....nice cruise or potentially a nice cruise, Knoebels in Catawissa PA......free amusement park, potential secure parking area, picnic area, water park :)
Let me know I can start looking into getting a special area for parking ;)
Also since we have a mountain home up there anyone wishing to camp out could stay on the farm....
I could look into the same deal as this years picnic...that worked out well with the cooking and clean up.....
Downside.....long drive

How about having it in Sept. like they used to be.
Not quite as hot in early to mid Setember.

Paul, Ginny, Nick, Ann, Don, Pat, and the entire Activity Committee:
Thank you for a job well done. You can't predict or help the weather. We still had a fun time & that's what it's all about. Great friends & a 20+ Corvette line up at the park. What could be better.
Thanks again,
Joel & Sue

Thanks Nick and Ann for organizing our picnic - GREAT JOB!!! It was nice to have it catered this year, because they supplied the food, cooked and cleaned-up. It was a fun day with great people regardless of the heat.

Jean, we did have our picnic in September, I think it was 2 weeks after the Cavalcade which was the Labor Day weekend. It was almost always good weather but if it went till dark it could be cool at sundown. I think the activities committee needs to look at another month either early in the season as a "Spring Fling" picnic and use it to get new members who haven had a chance to meet at an informal setting, not the formal General or a fall event. Membership. We have several months to look at what ever change we could make.
