Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this message board.
I have a 1995 automatic Convertible Corvette.
My Air Conditioner is acting funky. The temperature and coldness are fine, however, when I push the buttons for either, bi-level, face only or even the air circulation, the air will blow from the floor vents and the defroster, but will not blow from any of the front dash vents. There is air coming from the side dash vents.
Does anyone have any idea what may be the problem? Have any of you experienced this.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mary Anne

If you have the electronic air conditioning it could be the head unit. Is you fan speed control slow to react to the buttons or does it fail to increase or decrease speeds? I just had to replace mine in my 96. Unit is @ $240 . Don't know how much labor would be cause I did it myself. Fairly easy to do but you do have to take apart the consol and face plates off the radio and the air vent right above. Also the shift boot and shifter knob. Not a bad job but you have to be brave. :D

Tony B.
Thanks for your response.
My fan speeds respond perfectly. Temperature control responds perfectly. The only problem is where the air is directed. It is coming out of the defroster and the floor and the side vents on dash board. No air flow from front dash board vents.
I just hate to take it in to my mechanic and pay all that labor if it's something maybe my husband could tackle if we knew what was causing it. I can live with it the way it is, as I'd rather drive with the windows down anyway or with the top down. At least there's nothing wrong with the cooling portion, so I can use it if I need to.
Thanks again, and if you think of anything else, please let me know.
Happy Fourth Weekend

At least it's stuck in defog mode, otherwise you'd have a safety issue if you get caught in the rain.

I don't know if this will shed any light on your A/C problem.
Last week I had the exact same problem, air flow from defrost, floor, and window vents, in my 03 Chevy van! The problem was a disconnected vacume line. I don't know where, I had the dealer diagnose and fix.
Hope this helps.
This problem has been discussed on the corvetteforum site.
Appears to be a common problem with 95-96 years. Check the Vacuum T-valve, or the vacuum lines underneath the steering wheel could have come loose. You can check out complete descriptions on corvetteforum in the c-4 general comment section, just go back a couple of days.
Good Luck
