View Full Version : I'm working on vb3.5
Well, it's finally time to do this. I'm working on our code right now and will be upgrading the site this week. It might be a little bumpy but, I'll wait until the new board is working before I move all of these threads to it. version 3.5 has many new features and will require some server tweaks. please bear with me.
Hey everyone, I just wanted to give you an update. the new forum is coming together. It's running and I'm currently making it look like our corvette site.
I'm just starting the new homepage. our site is built on vb2, so because of the forum upgrade, I need to rewrite all of these other pages like the homepage and the cavalcade pages.
v3.5 is very nice and I keep find very cool features that I wasn't aware of. I think you all will be very pleased. v3.5 is the newest version which just came out. there will probably be some bug fix updates over the next couple weeks, but the upgrades should be minor ones since we are already on v3.5.
you can now upload multiple attachments in one post. uploaded photos have thumbnails generated for them. I'm going to add an auto resize for uploaded photos which are too large. this alone should be a huge improvement. my next upgrade to the attachment system will be a way to write a description about each individual photo. this will give our forums the characteristics of a photo gallery.
I'm also adding attachments to private messages so you kids can pass files to one another.
I have to loose the intro page to the site. it would be much easier to keep it, but for the sake of search engine ranking it has to go. I'd like to see us indexed by the search engines a little more often.
once it's finished enough that I'm ready for feedback, I'll show you the way there. right now it's way to rough.

Sounds good. Looking forward to it. ;bt
I have the guest homepage together and rebuilt the statements system. both are working. the statements system is what I use for extra site pages like this
http://www.ccdv.com/forum/statements.php?s=&action=cavalcade
here are some screen shots

the new posts status icon spins

I open one of the pretty dropdowns for this pic. you may be familiar with them already from corvetteforum.com
this pic also show how uploaded photos are converted into clickable thumbnails

what do you mean? We'll be saving the attachments. it might be a pain to do it, but I'm going to somehow import them all into the new system.
it's just the avatars, profile pics, and signature pics. the new system which handles these is just too different. each member only has a handful of these types of pics and it should be much to re-upload them.

I'm anxiously awaiting the 'new look'... ;bl ;hw
Here's the new calendar. it still need work. perhaps our evenets guy could let me know what it needs.
it might be easier for me once we get the months activities in there. I may leave the calendar as is, and work on it after we move
I am however going to add search and comments to the calendar events
one nice feature of this new calendar is that you can set alarms to individual events. that way you can have the site remind you of an upcoming event.

Web Guy - Great Job and thanks for your efforts I
know this is a test but can you try it with a blue background since I believe that is part of the club's color.
Thanks,

Thanks,
I could but I'd have to start over and redo every graphic from scratch. plus I didn't have a blue c6 :)
