The first Cruise Night of the season April 16th was a big success. We filled up the Pep Boys parking lot and began spilling over into the adjacent lot. We estimate 150+ vehicles. A ton of spectators just driving by stopped in to take a look, we anticipated this happening because of our new location.
Pep Boys has turned into a good partner. They donated a bunch of door prizes, about 35 in all, which were raffled off to those that entered their car. I talked to the Pep Boys cashier and she said that they were much busier than normal for a Saturday night. This is good.
We awarded 3 trophies, they went to
Larry Wyker 1966 GTO
Bob Campbell 1928 Buggatti
Rose (not of Tony&Rose) 1969 Camaro
The 50/50 raffle was huge success we collected a total of $372. The lucky winner was a lady name Maggie (we won't publish her last name because we don't want long lost relatives hitting her up for money) she took home a whopping $186.
If anyone took digital photos please post them Thanks.

Jean Dautel club member and Activity Committee member came up with a very nice and touching idea. Jean and her Daughter Leann worked late the night before crafting a couple of hundred dark blue ribbons with pins. These ribbons were offered to all for a donation to the Diabetes Foundation in the memory of Glenn Murphy's Daughter Linda. Thank You Jean and Leann
These ribbons will be available at club meetings and other club events.

Don - Great job to you and all your helpers. There were some awesome looking cars on display and I would guess that through out the night the number of spectators totaled between 1500 to 1800 people.
I overheard some people comment on how good the cars looked.
Wait until it gets warmer and doesn't get dark until 8:45, we might double the cars and spectators.
I can honestly say I thought it was the best CCDV cruise night I've ever been to in the past 5 years, and I didn't even bring my car.
It was a huge turnout, especially for a new location. The new parking lot layout broke up some of the monotony of past cruise nights where the same cars seemed to park together month after month.
The food concessions were a huge hit too. I overheard several people in different locations talking about how they were glad that food was added. Those people were saying that sometimes all they would want is a hot dog and a coffee and the pizza place was too expensive at Rosemore. I have no idea if it was too expensive, I'm just quoting some strangers.
Great job guys.

Thanks to all who put the cruise together BUT I have to give an enormous special thanks to Jean Dautel her daughter Leanne for what they did.
Thanks Jean and Leanne, that was just touching and so much appreciated.
For anyone that does NOT know, the American Diabetes Association was our charity of choice becasue my other daughter, Linda's older sister Theresa is a diabetic.
So, thanks so much Jean and Leanne and to all that donated to this wonderful cause.
I appreciate it from deep down in my heart.

Don and all the members who helped out on the first cruise night in a new location. Awesome job!!! I think the Rubys and the Stouts also deserve a lot of credit for getting the cruise night going in a less than ideal location(Rosemore) and keeping it going for all those years. Awesome job to you guys too. There were a lot of cars from Rosemore there, plus some new cars. All in all a great night. Not that it matters but I give it a two thumbs up!!

All I can say is WOW! It was great to get out, enjoy the weather and see some great cars. All we need now is more space...
I had a hard time explaining to my 10 year old daughter what a cruise night is all about. Now she can't wait until the next one.'
Many thanks to everybody involved.
Best regards,
Mark

Glenn, you are so very much welcome and Bill thanks for your thoughtful comments as well. I wasn't quite sure at first whether it was the right thing to do, but Bill you gave me the support and the idea behind the color for the ribbons, so thank you as well. It's most important to know that you have a strong support network within the friends you make. When one person hurts you try to do what helps to ease the discompfort. Keeping the memories alive and showing your support is the best thing we can do to help one another out and we can show this by wearing the royal blue ribbon for Linda.

Don,
When you get the film developed have them put prints on a CD at the same time. You can then post them from that.
