It is my experience that over the years and whenever I go away from the factory wheel and mount custom wheels I loose the factory ride. The car my look better but I loose the ride it came with from the factory. I put ZR1 wheels on my 91 and the car just won't ride as good as it did with the factory wheels. I bought very good stuff and had them mounted and balanced by professionals , still lost the ride. Does anyone agree or do I have bad luck? :(

When buying new wheels you have to consider diameter, width, offset, and weight. Change any one of them and you're generally changing the dynamics of the suspension. Change a few of them and it could feel like you're driving a different car.

I have the Z51 suspension which is pretty stiff. When I switched from run-flats to standard tires I also replaced my chrome wagon wheels with magnesium wheels. Both the tires and wheels are much lighter than what my car came with which allows the suspension to work much quicker. Now my C5 no longer hops across lanes when I hit a bump on a bend.

If you put true ZR-1 wheels on your car they would not be a fatory fit because the offset is different. If you actually installed ZR-1 reproductions with your cars proper offset, then the ride should not suffer. Could be you changed tires at the same time and that is the reason??
