View Full Version : 7/12 Corvette Challenge winner is Ralph Savarese
Last years champ came out on top tonight.
George Esposito runner up and Sheila Murchan semi finalist.
I lost in the 4th round as did Wicks for the highest finishing CCDV racers.
Edgar, congrats to going into the 4th round!!!
On your last run we all thought you car sounded different going down the track. Is everything OK?
WHEELZ:
BIG TIME CONGRATS on making it into the 4th round!!!!!;bc
I know how much you wanted it!
What was with the 12.40 dial? I was thinking 12.10, but its your car.. You did AWESOME! How's it feel?!! :D ;)
Mr PERFECT> TONY B....!
But the biggest kudos has to go to Tony, who cut his 1st all time .500 PERFECT LIGHT!;bc WAY TO GO!
The announcers were going nuts, Rose & myself were going crazy in the lot, and even the people in the lot were cheering too!
That is a true highlight! I only wish I was in the stands to see it!
As far as everyone else, I'm not too sure how we all did, so please post..
I think Vince went 3 rounds, way to go, I went into the 2nd round, before getting beat by a .001 breakout against someone who went .09 over her dial in. I tried to just beat her by the slimmest of margins, but I guess my old micrometer eyes, "ain't what they used to be"... haha.. Oh well...
In Real Street class, the announcer said I was back to Ellis "Red", as I cut a .497 red light in the 1st round, so not such a good day results wise for me, but still an awesome RACING day getting in 9 runs.
Look to see everyone next time. Again, way to go Edgar, WHEELZ, Vince, & especially Tony with the PERFECT LIGHT!
Thanks Rose for driving the pit truck too!
Way to go guys.Sorry I couldn't be there with you.
Congrats,Tony on the 0.500 light.Absolutely awesome. Was this in the 1st round for another "John Panozza,Jr. Prize" for you?

Congrats to all the CCDV racers. Although a lot of us got knocked out in the first round of the Challenge Pat, Vince, El, Edgar and Wheelz went further on to rack up some more points toward the Championship and Club Challenge Trophy. I was a little(?) over anxious and went red by the slimmest (ha ha) of margins, a .390. Lucky I decided to run the Real Street class as well as the Challenge. My .500 light came in the second round against a built-up Camaro that was dialed in at a 10.5. As fate would have it I missed a 2-3 shift and the guy walked me to the finish line. It was a great race on paper anyway cause he cut a .510 light an had I not missed that shift it would have been a real close race. As they say that's drag raccing.
Pat you are the "Man" for giving Vince a hand on the way home and for your second round showing. Kudo's to you.
Vince, way to go on your showing in spite of your electrical problem.
Edgar and Wheelz, Congrats on your fine showing.
El, it was just a bad day for you and at least you got to go in the second round round of the Challenge.
We had a ball and are looking forward to the next race.
Yea, you're right Tony, sometimes its just not gonna go your way.
Anyway, I 'd want everyone to read this, so I'll post this here instead of making a new thread...
CHECK your rims/tires!!!
If you are getting wheel spin, or not getting your expected 60' times or E/T, something might be out of whack...
When I was putting my tires back, I noticed that ALL of the stick on wheel weights were MISSING off BOTH of my rims! ;ae
I wasn't getting any shimmy or shaking, but something is definitely not right. I think it has to do with the missing weights.
I will be going to Eppies this week to get the tires re-balanced.
Might go with bang on weights. Are they better>?
Also, I might apply some clear silicone to them as well to insure they don't fly off.
But definitely CHECK your rims!!!

Congrats to everyone who made it through the first round! It's amazing how fast the competition can get brutal all over again. After getting bumped by a margin of .02 in the Corvette Challenge, I got bumped in the Real Street Class by .009! On the bright side, I didn't red light all day!
I want to thank the guys who backed my decision to try top-end tactics for the first time. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work as well for a car with a weak transmission. I hope I can get it worked out before the next meet and try my hand at it again.
First, not to steal Tony's thunder but i cut a .500 yesterday too in the time trials of the morning session.
No Ellis the car is not healthy. The tranny has been suffering from some slippage that has been getting progressively worse.
We have been progressively benn lowering the 1-2 shift point to allow the tranny more time to catch up. It helps for a pass or two then does it again. I bailed on the last time trial because of this.
4th round was the 4th run with the same program it is just caught me real bad. Basically it bumps the rev limiter, I back off then get back on (that was the reason for the 11.9x dials as I did run an 11.73 in the morning session).
The problem is only 1-2 shift at WOT. Drove it to the Doctors this moring to begin a rebuild.
WOW! You got a .500 light too!!! ;bc
AMAZING!
How many have you gotten, of was this your 1st???
Big time congrats!!!

Maybe we should start the .500 Club! :D
Good idea Tony....
I want IN!!!
Tony,
I'll pass on the .500 club, god knows i'd never get into that club.
Congrats on the .500 light, awesome. It was hard for me to get around yesterday running in both events i didn't get to see how
everyone was doing. But it seemed everywhere i looked i saw a CCDV member. El, i shoulda listend to ya in round 4 if i woulda dialed what you told me to, it would have been rite on the dial. i was happy with the way the car ran again allday. Glad you made it home ok Vince. Another great day at the track for CCDV our points for the club challenge are starting to look like a land slide. Mike C i didnt get to see you how'd the car run? I'm looking forward to 2 weeks when we do it all over again.

Congrats to everyone yesterday especially the 4 rounders Mike and Edgar, and the .500 light by Tony was awesome (I did see it).
After running great lights in time trial (worst of .552) I went out in round one as I was in a deep snore at the light.
Only 2 weeks for the next shot. I'll be there.

Ellis,
I'm going to ASSUME you get the stick on weights on the inside ( middle) of the rim. (I've seen pics of your rims they're clean) Put aluminized tape over the wheel weights. The tape itself is light enough you don't have to worry about throwing out the balance. Cut a piece of tape big enough so it covers the weight by 1/2" all the way around.
The tape can be found in the bubba section of your local automotive parts store. It can be used to seal mufflers too:rolleyes:
Eppie's might have this too
