View Full Version : Question???
O.K.,this has been bothering me for sometime. What is the difference between a convertible and a roadster...or are the terms interchangeable?
Maybe this should be a trivia thread. :D

Being a "salesperson" myself ... I think the answer is ... "about $10,000". IMHO - they are the same. However, a Chevy Cavalier would be a Convertible ... while a Corvette can be either or. I think the emphasis for Roadster is more of an OPEN CAR / SPORTS CAR sort of thing. At least, that's my belief. ANyone else?

A roadster would be a convertible with a hard top. Term usually used with the mid-years :D

this is exactly why I bought a T-Top! I don't have to worry myself about what it's called! ;jj
Then again, is it a C-3? a Shark? a coup? a coupe???? ;ht

Roadster/convertible are one in the same. Usually only 2 seaters are called roadsters. Just a figure of speech.
Your right Joel, If you buy a T-top you never have to worry whatt to call it. OR DO YOU? Coupe or T-Top :D
Now that you mentioned it Bob, I did have an MG that was titled as a roadster. It had as you mentioned the plastic side curtains and a top that was composed of 2 halves of the bows and the fabric that you kept in a bag in the "boot" . Fun car, but what a rust bucket... :(

I think anyone who makes his answer SOUND official will end this debate... for about a week.
So let me ask you this since Joel mentioned it...
Why are cars called T-tops when they actually look like an "H"?
