View Full Version : AOL says we're SPAM

AOL is currently blocking all CCDV.com email considering it SPAM. This might not sound so bad because I only email you once a month about the GasCap, but it's much worse than that.

Registrations are effected since AOLers won't get the registration email. AOL people will get locked out of their accounts if they forget their password because they won't receive the password email. You'll no longer receive you thread subscription emails either.

I'm working on it. I was hoping it would have been fixed by now, but no such luck. As soon as something changes I'll let you know.

I've spoken with the host and they assure me that there's nothing more we can do on our end. I'm considering setting up a new non CCDV.com email to use for the site, but I'm not 100% sure that that would even work since it's still our server sending it.

It's possible that you AOLers have all updated to 9 security edition and the new spam setting right on your computer are keeping us out but I'm not too familiar with them.

go to your email spam folder
on the bottom right is a "spam controls" link
toward the bottom is "sender filter"

maybe there is setting in there that can be changed. try turning off the sender filter all together and then have the site email you to see if you get it. use the forgot password link to send you a password reminder email. it won't mess up your account. let me know if you are an AOL and were able to get our email.

Sorry everyone

:( this is a real problem. I worked with the host again today to see if there was anyway to force our email through. I'll let you know if something happens and AOLers, please let me know if you recieve an email from the site. GasCap emails just went out.

WebGuy - As the president do you think I can write a letter to AOL and give them some background on our club as well as how the number of e-mails that will be sent will be small.

I'll even give them a call.

This is stupid that we are considered SPAM.

The problem is that real spammers out there were and possible still are using our domain name. they were faking emails comming from us with
a random name@ccdv.com
for awhile we couldn't even recieve email because anyone with spam protection would bounce the emails back and we'd get thousands of bounce spam emails. Now it seems that our domain was added to the list of domains which are known to be used for spam.

I've considered setting up a new email addess like ccdv@gmail.com for us to use. I'm not 100% sure that that will work though because it seems like they've blocked our server and not just the domain name.

This one has me stumped.

Odds are, it isn't the email doamin that is being bounced. It is probably the IP address of the host server of this site. I have the same problem with C3VR.com because people that used my hosting company must have sent enought spam that the host's IP address is now blocked. It not only keeps out the spammers, but me too! So I think this is what is happening with CCDV email. Not sure how to correct it, though.
