I came to visit my parents this weekend in NJ and I'm still here. My car will not start. I got in this morning, it turned right over, and for some reason after back out of the driveway 5 feet I decided I would go ahead and check my oil. I turned the car off poped the hood everything looked good. I tryed to turn it over and it almost sounds like it wants to start, but nothing. I guess it might be flooded but it has sat now awhile and no luck. Please any suggestions out there. Thanks Brian

Brian,
I hope your not pumping the gas with a Fuel Injected motor.
I also hope it's not your Opti-Spark. :(

No, No pumping the gas, I had a new opti-spark, water pump, plugs, and MDS 8.5 put in about 3000 miles ago. I'm complety stumped and stressed.

Brian,
Sorry to hear about your situation.
I would lean toward the ignition/coil module since it was so sudden. Opti's usually give some warning that they are going bad.
Did you try to pull codes...that might give some indication.

Well, someone suggested it might be the fuel pump, I'll have it check by my brother in the morning, i had to leave the car at my parents in NJ. If that is the problem or still not working. It may be a stretch, but would someone know a good mechanic in Union county NJ that works on vettes. Thanks Brian

Well, it was the fuel pump, alife time waranty, a oil change, and 540.00 bucks later and I'm on the road again. I'm glad a mechanic with 20 years experence fixed it, but 360.00 for the installation, 65.00 for the tow and 70.00 buck for an oil change. Damm! I'll be doing my own oil changes for now. Brian

;ae $70.00 for an oil change?

Glad you're back on the road again.

Tony,

He probably forgot to tell us that the $70.00 oil change was their deluxe package deal - $25.00 for the oil change and $45.00 to check the fluids and tire pressure "what a bargain".

Brian,

Glad you are up and running.

Brian,
Thanks for posting the solution to the problem. I like to keep these kind of things handy for future reference.
How many miles on that pump?
Wow! $70.00... ;ae

I don't know if it was the original pump, I'm second owner, but there is 100,000 miles on the car. Brian
