We lost the site. Luckily I did a complete backup a week ago. That means we've lost very little. When you get into the forum, it will be like you went back in time to Oct 27th. I know it's disappointing to lose posts, but all things considered we're very lucky.

I'll re-upload the Nov GasCap as soon as I get it. it's still in the office. I'll swing by there today.[hr]
Previously we owned a small piece of a server at ThePlanet.com and it worked out very well for us until now. They don't rent out small pieces though. Companies rent whole servers from ThePlanet and then resell parts of them to smaller sites like us. The company who was renting us our piece of the server ran into problems and our server is gone now. I have no control over it and I'm not very happy about it. To prevent something like this from happening again I've signed up directly with the ThePlanet. They are a massive company and since I signed up directly with them, there is no middle man. Just me and the ThePlanet. They are one of the largest hosting companies out there selling 150 servers a day and partner with thousands of small hosting companies like the one we were previously with.

The good news is, now I have complete control over everything and can be sure that problems like this don't happen again. The down side is now I have an entire server to configure, run, and maintain. I'm still twekeing the server so let me know if you notive any problems.

Considering I started rebuilding Friday night and were already here at the new box and running Sunday morning, it's not so bad. I saved all the attachments, posts, and accounts.

I'm testing the site out now. I need to be sure that uploads are working for attachments, avatars, and sig images.

Please respond to this thread with any problems

I sent out a mass email and it appeared to work. I won't know until I get this new mail server setup.

Don't email me at the club email today. for now just post here.

sig images appear to be working and I was able to download the gascap. :)

FINEST-RACING (Rob Farley)(RACING1320@aol.com) doesn't seem to be able to make a post again..

I KNOW he really would like to, since he just won the CHAMPIONSHIP of the Corvette Challenge series...

Thanks for getting us back up so quickly. I hope the slow speed is only temporary.

Hello Webguy
I'm trying to enter some events into the calendar for the year 2005 and it does not go past 2004. Can you fix that? Thanks. Don

At first I thought that my grandson had done something or installed something that was causing my computer to be so slow...

the slow speed is temporary while I was reconfiguring the server. (I had to reboot several times) I just went to upload the gascap and I can see we have an open base dir error. I'll ge that straightened out. while thats still wrong, all uploads will be down.

I can add the new years. no problem.

Great job with everything you are doing.

Do we do incremental backups each day or just a weekly?

Thanks

Hello Webguy,

Thank-you for fixing editing problems. I am still unable to access the Gascap online. I have not been able to enter that section of the site since joining the club. I joined back in July 2004. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Doug, I can't verify your club member status. did you just recently join? Bill, can you check the newest club list and let me know?

Web Guy -

Tony was on line and saw this post. I am just responding using his access. This is Rose Ferrante New Members chairperson. We have Dougs name spelled incorrectly on our members list. We have it spelled Bedeczki - He joined the club at the show and his name is listed in the August 2004 Gas Cap as a new member. Please set up his Gas Cap Access

Thanks :)

TQO

Hey Web-Guy, I can probably host you for free if you tell me how much bandwidth this site takes up a month.

I own a dedicated server with hytech hosting. It uses the whm/cpanel interface.

Let me know if you are interested, iceman2k@comcast.net
