Team CCDV has been clicking like a clock in getting points up for the Club Challenge. Ellis has gotten back to his old reliable self and managed to get into the semi finals today. Joining him was another CCDV racer, new member Jerry(AKA Boogieman). Joe Signore made it to the Quarter finals where he was pared up Jerry. Joe was on the brakes at the big end but still broke out. Edgar made it to round two coming off a win at the Viper Shoot out in Conn. Lee, Al, Glenn, Neil and myself all went out in the first round either by catching a red ight or breaking out, getting beat or just breaking. It was not a good day for me as traction was neither good or consistent. In fact every time I slammed second and third gears the DR's would break loose. Now these are 12 inches across and sticky so it's a bit perplexing when that happens. In my first time shot I came off what I thought was soft but instead I went sideways and nearly took out the tree and staging lights! Not only was the traction an issue for me but the I was having trouble on the tree all day. The only good thing that happened was I broke into the 12's again after running several 13.0's. However I was dialed in at 13.00 and lost to a slower car that I had covered. At the top end I lifted for a bit and hit the brakes just trying to stay slightly ahead of the guy I was racing. I took a little too much stripe and ran a 12.983 on a 13.00 dial in. The Pro 8 had some awesome cars and the bump spot to qualify was a 10.19! Getting back to the Challenge, Jerry was tied for the lead for Rookie of the Year with Rick White. Rick now has a two point advantage over Jerry by winning againts Ellis in the Semis and taking a win from Ralph Servarese. All in all a good day for racing, the weather was good and the cars were running great. OK guys, post your "war"stories! :D

Sounds like its time for new dr's Tony...
Mine were like that too a few months back.. Looked good, felt sticky, but was all over the place on the launch...

Anyway, FINALLY, a somewhat positive day for me after a few very frustrating weeks...

After a failing tranny & having to dial 14.25 in Sept, then a new tranny w/ a bad converter last time out which had me going 2/10 slower, I finally got it all together and got TWO new personal bests for me, a .003 RT & an 11.81 ET.

170 lbs of weight & ran my dial 12.02 dead on 3 times in a row. Lost in the GM EFI race with a breakout of 12.015 on the 12.02 dial.. ugggg

As it got cooler, added 25 lbs more weight & ran dead on twice more, 12.005 & 12.002 on my 12.00 dial in the challenge...

Only bad glitch was my red in the semi finals, but left feeling satisfied for the first time in 3 events.. the car was running dead on, and my lights were killer most of the day..

Condolences to Neil who broke again, better luck next time.

Thanks Tony & Rose for taking up the tires & weights & bringing coffee & donuts. Thanks to Neil who also brought weights for me & that I believe Joe also used....

Congrats to Jerry on another semi appearance..

We ALMOST had the elusive ALL CCDV final!

Hey! CCDV members... thanks for the congrats. Guess I am back on the chase for the rookie of the year. Overall I had an excellent day today making it to the semi finals again. And again paired with Savarese. I ran hard, the car was running 12.45s during the eliminations and the car felt good going down the track. I broke out on my final run to Savarese running a 12.36 on a dial of 12.44. Joe Signore schooled me earlier on winning tactics specifically for this ocassion. Joe advised me to hit the brakes on these type of runs(obviously I did not remember the lesson). To all CCDV members who went out early, I say make sure you come out on the 6th and stay late. Tony I did not know you had all those problems today.

Congrats to all you guys on a great day for CCDV. Especially El and Jerry for making to the semi finals. ;bt ;bc

Seems like if I just get to the track under my own power without the rear breaking, I should consider that a good day. ;bl I'll get it fixed and be back to try it again.

A very special thanks to our Rosie. She was a tremendous help today. She a very special person and a great lady. :D :D

Thanks to Al for the lift home. Enjoyed the conversation. You really saved my ass. Made it home just in time for my wife and me to get to some special evening plans with some freinds.

Thanks Carl..

Yes, until yesterday my car was not right at all...
Dale Cherry had to drop the tranny again to swap converters.
Seems the first one I got was not hitting well at all...
This different converter proved it..

Dale is an ace!

Congrats guys! Wish I had been there too.:( While I was outside doing the fall window chores I couldn't help thinking about what a great day for running it must be. With a ton of sun, cool temps & low humidity I figured you all would be posting great times!;yn Well Tony, the exact thing had happened to me the last few times out. I also run 315's and I suspect my DR's are shot. Now, if I go back I try them one last time. Rather they give out than my clutch... Many congrats to all of you!!;bt;bt

Congratulations to everyone and thanks to T&R for the coffee, hot chocolate (yum), donuts and the always appreciated hauling.

Car was great yesterday 12.85 w 0.001 light, 12.88 w 0.027 light, 12.86 w 0.09 light in that order during time trials. First round a -0.03 red!

I managed to stay up until about 8:00 last night and then I finally caved in. I think I'm in the right time zone now.

Neil glad everything worked out OK last night.

I had a busy day yesterday and today but had fun getting a round win though I would have liked two wins. Oh well.

Looks like I will need a LOT of help to make the Top 16 race

Congrats to Ellis & Jerry for making it into the semi-finals. And my heart goes out to Neil on his second mechanical in a row. He just purchased my weather station and I was looking forward to helping him get some runs logged in.

Surprisingly, I won the Closest to Dial Award yesterday and didn't find out until the end of the day. Here's the run down... (I launched in 2nd gear all day to try to stay above 14.0)

1st trial - On street tires, spun and ran a 13.8 @ 106!
2nd trial - On street tires, added about 125lbs to slow down, spun and ran 14.1
3 trial - Switched to DR's, kept weights in trunk, and ran 13.95
4th trial - hooked and ran 13.79 (Thanks to Neil for giving me his unused EFI card to get another trial in)

1st round - opponent dialed 11.2, he fell asleep, I woke him up running 14.009 HARD on the brakes and won the Closest to Dial Award.
2nd round - opponent went red
3rd round - was paired against Jerry AKA Boogieman, I treed him, beat him to the stripe, hit the brakes and the front wheels locked up, I backed off and broke out with a 13.987!

All in all, a better day than I expected when I left home. Thanks guys for the use of the weights, hauling the tires, coffee, doughnuts, etc.
