Hey everyone,
Greetings from Florida. Yes, I have seen Carl and Lissa Neff and they are doing well.
Question - I am looking for a complete or fairly complete 350/350 motor for a 55 Chevy project we are working on. GM crate motors I have seen run about $3-3500.00 Wonder if there is a place where we could get a deal and/or does anyone have a good motor for sale? Any help appreciated.
Would Bryner have motors for sale? CCDV discount?

Hi Carl, I don't know what you want to build but the ZZ-4 seems to be the most popular motor. Here's a site with motors but I would check Ken Fitchner Chev. for a price... they have great prices.
GMPartsDepot
800 East Northwest Highway
Arlington Heights, Illinois 60004
Phone: 800-441-5150
Email: info@GMPartsDepot.com
On the Web: www.gmpartsdepot.com
Or look on the Corvette Forum, I picked up a 03' Z06 engine with under 1000 miles on it for 2k complete.

Thanks guys. I have checked out the GM Parts Depot and several other places but have been getting prices around $3,300. I was trying to get that down a bit. I think these are list prices. Whatever happened to "racer's net". We have time to look around for a good motor for the right price. I will check out the Forum, Carl, as you suggested.
Any other ideas from anybody?
Thanks

Thanks Rick and Arleen. They look good
Wonder if Don Lemek or others might have a good, complete engine sitting around ready to go. Thinking out loud.

Buyer beware of used motors.
What EXACTLY are you looking for?

Hi Rick and Arleen,
Buyer beware - I agree. We are doing a 1955 Chevy. Want a nice engine for good driver/cruiser, not racer. Will have Muncie 4spd. and 3.83 or 4.10 rear. Nothing fancy but needs to be medium fast and sound fast. I have time to look around as car won't be ready for engine till early Spring. Crate engine (bolt in add headers and a few things) such as 350/350 4 Blt. is how we would like to go but we are trying to get a complete engine for under $3,000 if possible. Thanks for your ineterest and help.

Carl:
Hello good buddie! Listen, if you are successful in tracking down an engine for near $3K, please let me know. The Golen 350/350 'turn-key" goes for $3,800. plus $225. for shipping, handling & insurance. I called them & (of course) they said it would go great in our '76 with just adding a shift kit, 2500 stall converter & perhaps a trans cooler. Total cost about $4200. I'd probably take the rear from the present 3.08 to 3.55 or 3.70.
As I said, if you can locate something similar for considerably less, please let me know & maybe we can both order one!?!
Take care,
Joel

Hi there Joel,
Will keep you in mind. Is the motor in your 76 getting a bit tired? I don't know what I will find but as I get time I will keep looking. Hey, do me/us a favor. Call Bryner and see what their crate prices are. Maybe with the CCDV discount and a "group purchase" we could ge the price down.

How are you doing Carl??? Bryner can not come close to a good price on any crate engines. I looked for a month untill I found nu-car cheverlet in New Castle Del. they have the best price and no tax I got my ZZ4 for Louann's 65 there and it runs great. I don't have anything but a 1100Hp - small block, I have a lot invested in it. more then you are looking for. If I find anything I will let you Know. I am just starting on the 66 chevelle conv. It is about time.

Hi Don,
Thanks! Greetings from Florida. I have spoken to Rick Ball and he has been an invaluable resource. He has us headed in the right direction.
1100HP small block, eh? WOW! What are you going to put that in?
Lucky you for the 66 SS vert. I still am looking for a decent 66 SS 396 Chevelle Coupe. I am heading over to American Legacy Motors here in Naples this morning just to meet the guy and see what he has going. They have a neat website www.americanlegacymotors.com Since Carl and Lissa Neff are down here, I think we need to set up a CCDV cruise to Florida in February or something. Whaddya think?
Thanks to all for your help. Will keep you posted.

Hi to all.
Just a quick follow up. We are having Wayne Markovich and Wayne Coffey in Warminster build our engine. We supplied a few parts and the price will come in around $2200 for a nice 4blt. 350 (.030 overbore). Should produce around 360-370 HP.

Carl:
Are they redoing a 350 block you already had? That sounds like a bargain deal!! They'll be sure to get more business if your rebuild goes well. Keep us posted.
Thanks,
Joel
