Make sure they are made in the USA and say 100% cotton, towels from overseas can say they are 100% cotton even if they are not, there is no one to enforce it. :(

That's pretty danged sneaky. Does Wal Mart still sell a lot of items that are made in the US?

There is really no one that regulates or enforces these things, one quick way is to burn a piece and see how it reacts, any poly in the towel will cause it to melt rather than burn

Check the "made in tag" if its from the middle east like Pakistan, I wouldn't use them for detailing.
I just bought a 24 pack of so called 100% cotton towels at Costco for around $14. Made in Pakistan, but I bought them for grease rags in the shop.
Last time I bought made in USA 100% cotton bath towels, they were $10-12 a piece.

Those sneaky SOBS  !
Well, I just tried lighting one up. Didn't melt. Just burned.
Arleens a little miffed, can;t understand why. Just cause I did the test in the family room :D I wasn't lighting anything up in the garage near the Vette.
They were made in Pakistan by the way.
