Jean you may want to try this place http://www.tirerack.com/tires/CompareMostPop.jsp?autoYear=1988&autoMake=Chevrolet&autoModel=Corvette&autoModClar=&sortCode=46700&width=255/&ratio=50&diameter=16&minSpeedRating=V&minLoad=S&search=mostpop&vehicleSearch=true&speed_rating=VR&speed_rating=WR&speed_rating=YR&speed_rating=ZR& It's called the tire rack. You buy the tires online and have it shipped to the garage that will install it for you. You have to set things up with the garage ahead of time. Another option is a place called Eppies Tire on Bustleton road in Phila. the club member sya he will give you a good price and is very familiar with high performance vehicles.

Thanks Don and Steve for your help, I'm going to call Eppie's on Monday again...any chance that either of you know the guys name? I'm guessing regardless I'll have to push her inspection off till a later date because everyone I called said they would have to order them in.

Call Jay at Eppies, if he doesn't have them at the shop he may have them at the warehouse and have them at the shop in an hour or so. Also remember to tell him your a CCDV member. Jay has the best prices around. Bill

You don't say if you're looking for orginal brand/style tires or just a high performance tire but be aware that a lot of tire advancements have taken place in the 22 years since your car was new. With a car that is capable of triple digit speeds you need a tire that will hold up under the stress, not that you would ever go that fast. Plus I don't think you can legally put a tire on your car that has a speed rating below what the factory put on. If you spead the cost of the tires out over the years that you will not have to buy another set it's relatively cheap. BTW I've heard nothing but good things about Eppies. I've used Tire Rack before (good people) to buy Goodyear EMT tires for my 96. If it's any consolation they run over $300 a tire plus I have to have them put on, not cheap!

These seem to be the tire that most people use.
Goodyear Eagle HP Ultra Plus (Ultra High Performance Summer)
Size:275/40-17
ZR Speed Rated Price: $192 ( From TIRE RACK)
This will give you an idea what they cost. Jay will sell very close or lower to that price mounted , balanced, tax.

You could also try calling Contemporary Corvette in Bristol Pa.

He occasionally gets a load of new tires in and sells them at a very reasonable price. I bought new Dunlaps for Arleens old 88 coupe for a very very cheap price. They were not blems. Ask for Rocky,or Ron the owner. They do not mount them.
GOOD LUCK.

Thanks everyone for all the help with the tires! Does anyone know, if they don't make the tires anymore and you put another tire on the car that tooks it's place, does that make the car no longer stock?? Or am I just absolutely silly for tring to keep the 88 a stock car?? It does only have 42,000 miles on it?

I say put what ever tires you want on that match the speed rating of the car. is it a show car where the tires would make a difference if not then get the tires you want.

Sport seats-- I'm looking for the bladders and pumps that make these things work. I never see the parts for my '93 at Mid Central or anywhere else. Does anyone have a source?
