There is alot of that going on in the E-Bay business.
The Corvette section has these scams going on all the time. And E-Bay doesn't do anything to control it. It SUCKS

There seems to be allot going on via e-mail as well. I've received several e-mails from the UK wanting to buy my Vette. The scams can come either of two ways:
1. Send a certified bank check for more than the value of the car so you can pay the shipping agent with the extra. The agent gets your money and your car and while the client withdraws the funds prior to clearing. (international bank checks can take up to 10 days to clear).
2. They send you a counterfeit bank check. Even the issuing bank cannot tell the validity of the check. If the money is transferred fraudulently, it can be taken back once the fraud is uncovered leaving you high and dry.
My bank has cited several cases like this. Just thought you all might like to know.
