GOING RACING—Tony Buonassisi
After a couple of months we’re back and have some good news to report. The CCDV race team is in the lead again in the Corvette Challenge Club Cup with 51-33 point advantage over second place County Corvette Association. At the last race, held May 29th, Mike Campbell went into the third round getting the most points for the team. Neil Fine, John Burbich, Joe Signore, Al Betz, Lee Sofer, and Ellis all contributed to the cause. When Ellis got into the second round he lost to someone but the time slip indicated something was amiss. Ellis had beaten the guy on the tree and Ellis ran closer to his dial-in than his opponent so he should have gotten the win light. Talking it over with Al they went to the track officials. After a half hour of looking in books they concurred that something was wrong with the timing system and Ellis should have gotten a rerun with the guy who “Beat” him. It was too late however as the guy left after losing in the next round. Ellis was awarded another point and an apology was give by Owner David Knapp of Raceway Park. Lesson to be learned. Look at your time slips or have someone look at it if you feel you should have won.

Vintage Thunder XIII-June 12th, Cecil County. CCDV members Richy, Lee, Linwood, Ellis, and Rose and I headed out for one great day of racing and having fun. This race, in its 13th year, had some great competition with a few 9 and 10 second Vettes present. Meeting us at the track was Glenn Hanna with his 11 second C3. Glenn won his Class bringing home a trophy. After the Vintage Thunder Race, the County Corvette Association had arranged for them and the CCDV to race each other. Richy, Ellis, Glenn and newly signed up member Edgar Perez. Because of the low turnout of CCDV members we had to recruit Edgar and we were still out numbered 8 to 4. We had three CCDVers in the quarter-finals. Edgar, Richy and Ellis. Ellis red lighted and Richy and Edgar won. Into the semis Richy got a bye run. Edgar had a great race and we had an all CCDV final. I had a chance to drive Richy’s car during the time shots and his car needs some stickier tires. Coming out of the hole at anything higher than an idle produced smoke and wheel spin. So here we have Richy dialing in 13.35 preferring to run down his opponents at the top end, and Edgar, an experienced racer and all around good guy. It came down to Richy leaving first, because of the handicap, Edgar leaving a little too hard had his tires spin. At mid track Edgar almost caught Richy but Edgars car started to get loose almost crossing the center line. Edgar got the car under control but it was too late as Richy got the win light. Great finish to a great day.

Here is Glenn Hanna getting his trophy for winning his class at Vintage Thunder. Glenn told me at the Cavalcade he'll be into the 10.00's with his new setup. Can't wait to see him run.

I tried to post a picture of Edgar getting his 2nd place trophy but it wouldn't post. I'll try a little later.

Bob, no problem. I can put people asleep just as well here on the forum as I do in the GC. BTW the Gas Cap looks great. You're doing a great job especially with the newest snafu that occured. Now if I can only post a few more pics.
