... that ran at E-town Saturday 6/28! It was a fun day at the track watching all you guys "tearing it up".
Congrats El for 2nd place in the Corvette Challenge for June 28. ...and was it ever a close 2nd place!
Thanks to all the CCDV members at E-town today for making Pat & myself feel so welcome! We had a great time! We'll be back.
PS I'll post a few more pictures in the Photo Album area

El was having his usual great day. His car is so predictable is scary. Great 2 place finish and congrats to all the CCDV racers today. Although we only had 4 go into the 2nd round (Ellis, Joel,Wheelz, and Edgar) we had superior numbers in the race for the Club Challenge Cup. I don't think the long layoff between March and June did any of any good, except maybe Ellis. Glenn, thanks for your help in the pits today changing tires and for the pictures in the Photo section. It was great to meet you and Pat.
yes it was a great day.
Thanks for all the pics Glenn.
More importantly, Ellis moves into 4th place in the points chase with myself right behind him in 5th.
Once again, Ellis got me. What is that 0-5? Jeez I what do I gotta do to beat this guy? I bet if we add up all our races the margin of victory can by more than a tenth of a second.
Good job dude.
And Joe Signore hangs on the rookie points lead though he is tied now with 7 which is a many way tie for 10th place.
That is 3 CCDVrs in the Top 10:D

Edgar, I didn't know how well Joe was doing in the Rookie points, Thanks for that update.
Joe,congrats to you and for all three of you guys in the top 10 ;bc
As for the margin of victory in the races that you and El have gone that should be a sign of respect we have for you and your car. You bring out the best in us when we race you. I seem to remember losing to you last year by a real slim margin. What do you think would be the total distance in inches of the margin of victory?
Hopefully the rest of us CCDV racers will shake the cobwebs out and get back in the groove and get further than the 1st round in the next event. ;jj

I have more pictures, I know I didn't include everyone yet, but I wasn't quite sure who all was who out there (still getting to know everyone) Sorry if I missed anyone, but I will post some more pictures later Sunday (6/29)
Also, I have much larger (higher resolution) versions of all the pictures you see in the Photo Gallery, so if anyone wants me to e-mail you any specific one, just say the word and you got it.
Glenn
I learned alot from everyone yesterday, but still have some questions which I'll ask at the next meeting. All I need to do now is practice my launch with this 6 speed car I have!

Awesome day of racing.
Congrats to Ellis for his runner up finish yesterday. And welcome back Edgar with a great quarter final showing.
See everyone in 2 weeks at the next challenge.
Thanks for the good words & support guys!
With all the long hours I've been putting in lately, it was just great to race again, and take some time off from work!
Going to the finals was a supreme bonus for sure.
Thanks for waiting around too... Not sure if you guys know this, but prior to the final race, John Panuzzo & the track officials asked me if they could let 2 full lanes of cars race because John was having some overheating issues. I told them that all you guys were literally waiting for me & baking in the hot sun, and I didn't think it was right to make you guys wait another 30-60 minutes more. So I asked if we could line up immediately.
Not sure if John got mad at me or not, but he won, and was a gentleman throughout as usual.
Edgar, our race was again another classic!
I know you'll get me one of these days... Its inevitable, and I look forward to lining up against you as always!
Your car is running AWESOME!!! 11.66 on a 90+ degree day, with 2400-2500 DA!!! WTF!!! Just unreal!!!
I look forward to the day when its an ALL CCDV finals match, and possibly semis too!
See you all at the next one!
Thanks Tony & Rose for taking the tires & jack!
And thanks to AL Betz for hanging with me in the pits during the last few rounds & helping me decipher the weather station readings...
Al, next time we'll know where to "hang out" when its hot too.....

Just a note
I couldn't figure out why my car slowed down by 2 tenths in the first round .... well I had the car out today and I noticed a little pinging on 2 occasions when I got on it a bit up a hill on 611 in 4th. Seems that the car doen't like the 93 octane at WaWa or Mobil. I will be back on the Sunoco 94 for the next race (especially if it's hot) and the gas gauge can go to zero all it wants if I get the win light.
Hummmmmmmm..........
I usually go Amoco or Texaco.......
Tried Sunoco 94, and gas gage went to 0, 3 times...
Now I just filled with Mobil.......
Hope there's no problems.. Might have to find a way to drive it over the next 2 weeks & put some Amoco back in it....
El,
Awesome runs dude what can anyone say, your a machine. It was a great day yesteday we have the best cheering section any team could ever ask for. Glenn i hope next tyme you deside to give it a try, awesome pic's you took yesterday. THANK YOU Rose for hauling tires and jacks andbeing the best cheerleader anyone coud ask for. Those of you in the stands sitting in that heat to cheer us on a huge THANK YOU. Joel 1st tyme out this yr not counting Atco and ya made past the first round great job i hope your hooked now and we can see you at more Challenges. Joe still in 1st place for the rookies awesome. Edgar glad to see the car was running up to par your a force to be recond with. Tony your car was running great as usual and your a killer on the tree.Thankyou for doing the tire thang for me. Vince i'm not sure how your car ran but thank you for taking care of the tower error for me, sorry i forget your lady friends name but please thank her for cheering us all on. Big Al dayum our 1st run of the day and you go and run against me at get a 400.50 mph in the 1/8 mile :D lil scary eh ? and again your a killer at the tree. Richy i dont know how you ran yesterday i didnt get to see much of ya hope you had some good tymes. Lee, wazzzupp i know you were dissapponted why i dunno it was hot out and i think your car ran awesome it would have been tough to get a personal best yesterday in the heat so hang in there your car is very strong. Carl sorry i only saw you a few tymes hope you got the air bridge prolem solved sorry i dont know your tymes hope they were good ones. As for me my car ran great the um driver needs alotta help.I ran in the 11's allday long my best was 11.63 and i was in the 170's for 60' allday should be in the 160's but maybe the heat had somethang to do with it dunno i was spinning a lil off the line. I NEED HELP ON THE TREE BAD i did make it past the 1st round and both my runs i had to give over 4 sec head start chasing folks down is a lil fun but sitting at the light watching there taillights rapidy get smaller is a lil disheartning. I was really nice getting to run the car again and hanging out with the best race team at the Challenge. well i wrote a book so see ya at the next Challenge....
Mike
Bill the car ran well. I will be analyzing the time slips in the next day or to but yes a ran a few high 60's today and almost got to 117 mph.
Judging from the weather and estimating back to when I last ran 11.40's, the car is about the same. Maybe a little better as all gets loosened up in the engine (it only had about 150 miles on it)
I was very surprised I got so far with it. Won a close race where the car surprised me and I run under but my opponent ran under by more so I got the light.
Yup that 11.66 was on the brakes at 110 MPH so it had a little more on it.
Had trouble finding the sweet spot again on the burnout as I spun them about every other time.
Ellis, I sure hope my turn comes;)
Mikey, sorry we didn't get together much on Sat.Following El's lead,I ran both the Challenge & the Time Trials. My runs were all over the place.Hopefully, installing the shift light this week will help.My best time was 12.766 @ 111 mph.The best race was against a Viper.I pulled a hole shot with a .516 RT ,but he ran me down at the finish line and beat me by .056 sec.Tried to hook up with him again for a re-match,but it didn't happen.
I really had a great time and once again,CCDV can be proud of
its members performance on the track and the support in the stands.

Congrats to everyone who made it through the first round! Ellis, you were awesome. Glenn, thanks for posting the pictures and cheering us on. Special thanks to everyone who broiled in the stands, you guys and girls are great, it wouldn't be the same without you supporting us.

Sounds like you guys had a GREAT DAY! :D
Sorry I missed it. I'll be at the next Challenge.
Just ordered all new Rear suspension parts for the 65 Coupe,(rear carrier, half shafts, u joints), also found a guy to fab the 10 point cage. New BB makes well over 700 Hp at 7000rpm.
It will be ready for next season ;)

Had a GREAT time & can't wait until the next opportunity to join in!! However, the '76 runs terrrrible in the heat! So I may not be back until later in the season (unless it cools off a bit). Speaking of gas, the 5 gals of 100 octane from the track didn't seem to make any difference. Next time I'll come with a full tank of Sunoco 94! I'll bring my photos (with duplicates to hand out) to the next meeting.
IT WAS A BLAST!!

Think I'll try some of that 100 octane at the track and see if it makes a difference next race.

Not recommended! Cost $4. per gal. Only did it because waiting so long to race I was running out of gas! I don't get 20+ mpg like you guys with the C-4's & C'5"s.

I won't use Sunoco 94 ever again.... I don't think it made a hoot of difference the way the car ran plus it ate my gas gage...I'll just have to go back using Mobil or Exxon.
Al I thought I read a tip somewhere that in the hot days you want to mix the 93 with some 100 to help against detonation or something like that?

I guess I could just remove the Hypertech program too.
